The Inauguration

By: Ross

Barack Obama comes in with a tight face, and I was wondering why? Joe Biden had the former vice-president recite a paragraph swearing what he would and wouldn't do. Then a couple of people gave speeches. I thought they were all very good speeches, but Barack Obama had the most important speech. It was even better. I almost forgot about the lady who sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Man, that woman had a great voice. That was before all of the speeches. Then after all of the very interesting speeches wre over, everybody rose, even us. They had the U.S. Marines up there singing also. I keep on forgetting lots of interesting facts. History was made today because Barack Obama is the first African-American President ever.

A Favorite Memory

By: Lily

The first time I met this girl she looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, and she disappeared to nowhere. She came bolting to me. She just asked me, "Do you want to be friends?"

My response was, "There's two swings. Do you want to come with me?"

Her name is Leanna. She loves the colors orange, green, and yellow. She has glasses and Curious George glasses case. Did you know that our memaws were best friends? I bet you didn't.

In first grade I said, "Let's name this flying squirrel because we fly off of it like flying squirrels." I made it up myself. Then we named the monkey bars spider monkey. We didn't name anything else.

A Memory

By: Luke

I once remembered I had to feed and water the cows, and so I slipped on my pants, then my boots, and ran out the front door. I tripped, and my elbow was bleeding. But it didn't hurt. I got back up and ran to the gate. I pulled the lever back and turned on the water. I put the water hose in the gigantic bucket. After that I got the cubes and ripped the bag open. I tilted the bag and the cubes came out. Then I forgot about the water. I ran back and turned off the water, but the bucket wasn't full of water. Going back to my house, I will never forget to water or feed the cows again.

A Memory

Once I climbed a tree, and I found an egg. It was a tiny bird egg. I got to almost the very top of the tree, and when I was up there the sight was amazing! The wind felt really good because I was all sweaty. The bird egg was blue and white, and the blue was polkadots. When I was up there, I looked up at the clouds, and I saw like a lion, race car, a belt, and an alligator. We lived up around Montague and Bowie. Our house was all cowboyish. Oh yeah let's get back to the tree story. It was actually I don't know what kind of bird who made the egg. I'm having to get down and eat now. I'll always remember that day.

My Memory

By: Leanna

"What does the gold belt represent?" "The sun," I answered as my karate instructor Ms. Maxwell asked me that question on my gold belt test. That test changed my life forever. I've gone up three belts since then. Now I'm on stripe of green belt.

All the belts represent something. For example a white belt means a seed in the ground that will grow to be strong. A gold belt means the sun beating down on the seed to make it grow. A green belt means the plant has grown and is getting stronger. That's all the belts I know because that's as far as I'm on. All the other belts in order are blue, purple, brown, and black.

Someday I will become a strong blackbelt, and an instructor like Ms. Maxwell. But until then I'll be the student in class that has dreams about becoming a blackbelt instructor.
