John and his brother Alexander Sibbald moved from Edinburg Scotland in 1833 to Barrie area . Alexander Sibbald's son John, married Phoebe Hanna Warnica and moved to Wisconsin U.S.A. And their descendents include , Anderson, Berner, Bonk, Clark, Neschke, Pendergrass, King, Gunderson, Wende, and Weisenmayer. John's daughter, Elizabeth Margaret Sibbald married William Soules. William Soules was the grandfather to Pearl Soules mentioned on the Soules page. Their descendents are to numerous to list but the most common name is Warnica. ======================================================
SIBBALD FAMILY
John Sibbald and his brother Alexander came from Scotland to Canada early in year 1833, followed later that year by John's wife and two children, and settled at Tollendal. Their children were John, Elizabeth (Mrs. William Soules of Big Bay Point), Andrew Alexander, Maggie (Mrs. John May of Tollendal), George, William, Thomas. Andrew Sibbald and his wife (former Elizabeth Ann Robins) and three children, Howard, Elsie, Frank, left Stroud on June 10, 1875, with Rev. George McDougall, missionary, to be missionary teacher to the Indians at Morley, Alberta, he being the first white school teacher in Alberta. Son Howard was park superintendent at Banff, Frank a rancher. Andrew died in Banff in July 1934, in his 101st year and is buried with his wife at Morley, Alta. Alexander left in the early 1880's with his family to reside in Chicago. The remainder of the family remained in Simcoe County. The youngest and last member of the family died in Barrie, April 7, 1941, in his 97th year, John's brother Alexander married Eliza Johnson. The Sibbalds were ardent oarsmen, winning many outstanding boat races.
