School Pages

I work as a teacher at Manor House School in Hanwell, West London. It is a small independent school, with about 170 pupils ranging from the ages of 2 to 11. Although I have worked with children from the age of about 5 upwards, I now work mainly with children in the Upper School, who are aged from about 8 to 11. As the school places children in classes through their ability rather than their age, there can be a difference of two years or more in age within a class.
The subjects that I teach are history, religious studies, dictation and physical education, although I have taught other subjects when necessary. I teach each of these subjects to 4 classes a week, Form 3, Form 4, Form 5 and Form 6. Generally the children I teach are a very good lot, although as an independent school we can have very small classes, making teaching a lot easier.

Form 6

Last year I ran a competition in each Form to see who can get the most stars from me; stars being awards for the best work, most effort, helpfulness and the like. The prize was the opportunity to appear on this website. I doubted that many of the children would want such a prize, but to my surprise all but 2 of the 40 Upper School children wanted to compete for the chance to appear here. In the end I found a winner from each Form, but then decided to add some extra photographs as a reward for all the hard work that was put in by some of the other children who did their very best.
Once again, I have decided to start with the oldest class - Form 6. There are only 7 members of Form 6 this year, and they are quite a good lot generally.

Rhianna

This picture is of Rhianna, who is a superb athlete, the best in the school. Rhianna also gained the most stars from me in the spring term when she was in Form 5, and will almost certainly be close to winning again this term.
