Thoughts of my Youth by Myrna Ericksen

Have you swam in two oceans on the same day,
Has a tropical storm washed your blues away,
Did chattering parakeets start your day right,
Or did maids ever put you to sleep at night?

Has the taste of Corvina made you wish for more
And Papayas that ripened at your door
Did Seviche leave a bite on your tongue
When we were young?

Did you know it was your lucky day,
When all you had to do was play,
Did you travel the world in your mind,
On ships with colorful flags a-flying
That you watched from the banks of a canal
or from your own backyard?

Did your life abound with friends around
When laughter and music were your sounds
And you spoke and danced in two languages
And in between invented your own words.

Ah, those were the times,
when gardenias and orchids decorated our wrists
When midriffs were as daring as it gets
When a wink or a smile could create a spark
In that certain guy or gals breaking heart.
When we were young.

MOTHER'S DAY by Myrna Ericksen

You're the fluffy white clouds that give me hope
You're the golden hillsides all aglow
You're everything a mother should be
You're the whole world in one to me
You're my mother.

You're the keeper of the truth
You're the holder of my youth
You're the model of virtue on earth
You're the one that brings me mirth
You're my mother.

Ever since my world began
You've been there to hold my hand
The one to whom I could always turn
You're my mother.

When in Heaven the angels await you
With a special place to lead you
Songs of praises will resound
Where love and motherhood abound
Beside the Lord you will be found
Your my mother.

VALENTINE GREETING by
Myrna Ericksen

If the sky had no lining
And birds did not sing
If buds didn't open
You'd be all those things.

If stars did not shine
And trees lost their leaves
If brooks had no water
You'd be all of these.

If Heaven and earth
Would all pass away
Your love would still be
In my heart to stay.
