1. Sri Parakala Mutt

Sri Parakala Mutt of Mysore was started by Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swami, one of the main disciples of Swami Vedantha Desika. This oldest (650+ years) and sacred Sri Vaishnava mutt has inherited the vigraha of "Lakshmi Hayagriva," the giver of knowledge. The vigraha was given to Swami Desikan by Lord Hayagriva Himself. The following invocatory verse, recited by Prabhanda Ghoshtis at the beginning of the Divya Prabhandham recitations, was composed at Satyamangalam in Karnataka by Brahma Tantra Swatantra Swami, the founder of the Sri Parakala Mutt. Our Lord Sri Ranganatha residing in Srirangam chose this invocatory verse to honor the service of Swami Desikan.

Sri Ramanuja Dayaa Paatram Gnaana Vairaaghya Bhushanam               Srimad Venkata Naathaaryam Vande Vedaantha Desikam

"I salute the great Venkata Natha also called Vedanta Acharya and Lion among poets and logicians, well adorned by both knowledge and discretion, and who well deserved the grace of Sri Ramanuja"

Such a mutt with glorious heritage is in shambles now.  Daily araadhanaa itself is becoming difficult.  The auspicious days such as tirunakshathrams (birthdays) and the festivals of the Lord have all become a "no-show" events with no splendor or "vidvat goshtis" etc. We need  to organize support so that daily araadhanams of our dear lord "Lakshmi Hayagriva" is being taken care of.

It is easy for some of us to comment - " there are a few number of scholars in our mutts."  Lack of financial support is one of the reasons that is drawing people out of scriptural study and religious life.  We have to organize and support the religious "true brahmins" -- our acharyas and their paricharakas. Only such allegiance will protect our culture. Please let us put our minds together and create a stable tomorrow for the future generation. We need to do set it right for our children.

Vidyadhanam and Annadhanam Trust

For the Maduranthakam Oriental School run by the Sri Ahobila Mutt. The Sanskrit college at Madurantakam over 50 years old.  About 150 students receive education in Sanskrit, Vedas, Agamas, and Tamil Hymns (Naalaayiram Divya Prabhandham) sung by the great Azhwars.  Children in this college will study here for 14 years and eventually come out as Pundits with a Sironmani Degree recognized by the University of Madras as equivalent to an M.A.  A unique aspect of education at this center is that it follows the ancient gurukula system. The Vedic education is imparted by the ear, traditionally known as "karna parampara."  It is the only way in which the pristine purity of this knowledge can be imparted and preserved.  The Pundits employed in this institution take great pride and care in educating the students. Madurantakam is a temple city situated 50 miles south of Chennai Madras).  There is a  highly revered temple for  Lord Rama here.  Children studying in this college have the additional benefit of being in the immediate presence of such a hallowed temple.  Children get up at 5 a.m. in the morning, go through their daily ablutions, and are taught Vedas by the Pundits in a systematic manner.  The college is residential, where the students are fed, clothed, and maintained comfortably in a traditional manner. The greatest help we can render to human beings is to make them self-reliant economically.  Vidyadhanam, or imparting any useful skill, has been recognized through the ages as the ideal gift we can give to a human being.  While an individual is being molded through his/her education to acquire some specific skills, it is also necessary to sustain him/her by regularly feeding, clothing, and providing accommodations in a congenial atmosphere and environment.  It is a matter of great satisfaction that the Vidyadhanam and Annadhanam Trust is attempting these twin objectives in an admirable manner.

It costs Rs.5000 a year to maintain a student.  The trustees would be grateful if you could underwrite the cost of education and maintenance of one student.  A capital sum donation of US $1,000, which generates an income of Rs.5000 a year, is enough to  pay for the maintenance of one student.  Contributions will add to the corpus amount of the trust, and thus help to maintain and promotethe objectives of Annadhanam and Vidyadhanam.

Sri Ranganatha Paduka Vidyalaya Trust

Operated by Srimad Andavan Ashramam

This was started by Sri Thirukudanthai Andavan and has completed nearly 28 years of its existence. This vidyalaya at Srirangam offers Sironmani courses on Chathur Sasthras (four vedic studies) and also Naalaayiram Divya Prabhandham. Presently it has over 50 vidyarthis (students) and 10 teaching staff. This type of institution is playing a very useful role in preserving the vedic traditions for future generations to a certain extent. Education here is spread to Sri Vaishnavites, Shaivities and Madhavas. It is common knowledge only boys from poorer brahmin families are joining these course. Hence the ashramam gives free education to these boys and also pays a monthly stipend to their parents. It will be good if help comes from outside by way of donations to support this activity of our ashramam. As an extension to the vidyalaya, to help the poorer sections of our society, a Arts and Science college was formally inaugurated on the 26th of October 1997 by the former President of India, Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma. As per the instructions of Srimad Andavan, the college is run independently with endowments setup by the Ashramam without financial assistance from the government. Admissions are based solely on merit. The vidyalaya is under the able guidance of Srikaryam Swami Sri Madhavachariar. Donations are welcome to supplement the endowment for the continued growth of the college. The trust has Government of India approval under Income Tax Act 80(G) exemption for tax purposes. Donations recieved by Sri Ranganatha Paduka Vidyalaya Trust are exempt from income tax per 80G clause in India.

Thuppul Trust

This trust has been formed to perform primarily the "GARUDOTHSAVAM" for Sri Deepa prakasar temple (Sri Maha Vishnu) at Kanchipuram on Vaikunta Ekadasi day every year. This temple is situated in the birth place of Sri Vedantha Desika, the most reverred vaishnavite Acharya. Several Azhwars (wandering bards and saints) have sung in praise of this deity and this temple is one of the most important temple of the 108 Sri Vaishnava shrines. The Vaikunta Ekadasi day falls on the Ekadasi Day preceeding full moon in the month of margasira (Dec 15 to Jan 14). On this auspicious day, dieties of five ancient temples (located in Kanchipuram) are taken out in procession on Garuda Vahanam (vehicle). This was not performed in the past years in the temple of Sri Deepa Prakasar for want of funds. A trust has been formed for this purpose with a view to create a Corpus Fund so that the interest earned out of it could be used for performing the utsavam. Balance available out of interest income, if any, will be given to temples, Vedic Scholars students who are in need of it.

Bindignavile (near Hassan) Sri Keshava Perumal Koil

The shrine at Bindignavile is an ancient one dating back to centuries and the presiding Deities are bestowing their blessings on all the devotees, situated on the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway at a distance of 86 miles from Bangalore.Sri Channa Keshava Perumal resides along with Sri Sowmyanaayaki Thaayaar. Sri Vainatheya (Garuda, Periya Thiruvadi) resides in the adjoining sannidhi.  The temple follows Pancharathra Agama. According to the legends, Sri Ramanujacharya had visited the shrine and offered worship for three days. This place is refered to as Mayurapuri in the puranas. Brahma and his consort Saraswathi frequently sought to worship the Lord Keshava at this place.

Appeal from the Bindignavile Sri Vainatheya Bhaktha Mandali

1). The above mandali has been organizing daily aradhanas, important festivals and annual Brahma rathothsava  at the Bindignavile Shrine. As there is no source of income for this temple, the above organization was formed for the purpose of collecting funds towards ÒNithya Seva NidhiÓ (perpetuate aradhanas without break). The sum fixed for this is Rs 1000 ($25). The interest from the fixed deposit will be used to cover the expenses of the ariticles and honarary sambhavana to the Agamiks and other staff members, whose present payment is very meagre.

2). Construction of  the Rajagopuram - Despite the sacred and religious history, the absence of a Rajagopuram has been keenly felt by many devotees. The volunteers and devotees feel that they have been ordained by the Lord to construct a Rajagopuram. The 45th jeer of  Sri Ahobila Mutt, Sri Azhagiya Singar, visited Bindignavile in 1993 and was higly appreciative of the shrine and the service rendered by all the devotees, who were profusely blessed by His Holiness.  The fact that the Mutt responsible to accomplish the gopuram at Srirangam visited the temple gave an impetus at this temple also.
