An Atheistic Point of View

Tim Kidd's thoughts on life, religion and happiness

Hello there. Thanks for dropping by. My name's Tim Kidd. As you must have guessed by now, I am an atheist and a humanist. On this page are essays which reflect my views (often unorthodox and irreverant) on religion, life, happiness, politics, science and other related topics. I also include links to some of my favorite atheist, humanist, church-state separation, and science/evolution webpages. There's also a book review section where I review some of the best (in my opinion) freethought material available. Enjoy it all, and feel free to comment, if you are so inclined!

For more about me, here's a brief Biography

To clarfiy common misconceptions and shatter stereotypes, here is an explanation of what Atheism is and what it is not

Here is an Atheism FAQ and a Humanism FAQ which should answer any other general questions

I have compiled a lengthy, but my no means complete description of Biblical Fallacies which should cast serious doubt on the validity of Christianity's "holy" book.

Atheistic Spotlight Site of the Month

Every month I will spotlight an atheist's personal webpage that I find very informative and enjoyable.
For November check out Adrian Barnett's Wasteland of Wonders. This witty Englishman provides
one of the most thorough and devestating critiques of religion and I have seen on the net.

Shop 'Till You Drop!

Having trouble finding freethought/atheistic books or products? That's not at all surprising as mainstream merchants shy away from marketing anything controversial (especially in regards to religion) out of fear of a Christian Coalition boycott. Below are three great websites which market market freethought books and merchandise.

It has been almost three months since my last update, but I've been so overworked. I really am starting to miss the quarter system and four classes a term instead of five. Plus, most professors are just as unadjusted to semesters and for the first 10 weeks, piled on more work then necessary. Hopefully wit five weeks left to go, things will settle down.

Up until two weeks ago, I was also managing a mayoral candidate's campaign at the university. Of course getting college students to vote is like raising the Titanic with tweasers, and I harbored no illusions about the difficulties in my work. As expect, we lost, but the student turnout was a little better than normal, which earned me a small bonus. Most importantly, I have my foot-in-the door for future campaigns.

My Atheist student group has been a much bigger success than I ever expected. We are called "The G.O.D. Club" ("Gregarious Opponents of Dogma") and include about 15 members who regularly attend meetings; the email list is at about 40. Right now, we're still just a discussion group although some have expressed interest in community service, which I'm all for. Also, our advisor (this really cool philosophy professor) has suggested sponsoring a debate with whatever Christian group that would be interested.
