*Donation for the Greek Language studies at Macquarie University

The Southern Highlands Greek Community supports the fundraising for the Greek Language studies at the Macquarie university. For that reason on our recent dance party of late 1996, we collected $2770 that we offered to the Greek Studies Foundation of Macquarie University (GSFMU). We would like to thank Mr. John Panoutsopoulo for the $500 he offered. The rest were the proceedings of a raffle and the donation of the community.

What is the Greek Studies Foundation of Macquarie University (GSFMU) ?

The GSFMU is a foundation organised to financially support the Greek Language studies at Macquarie University. The Greek Language studies at this particular University are threatened by a shortage of funds. The foundation successfully supported the short term life of the studies, however extra money will be needed to permanently base the Greek studies at this University. Donations are now open to support the Greek Language at this Sydney based University. The contact details of the foundation are:

*Our Carnival Dance Party

The 1997 Apokria dance party On Saturday 8 March 1997 the Southern Highlands Greek Community held an Apokria dance party with lots of happenings. As the Greek tradition of Apokria demands, on every March of each year, people dress up and make fun of everything and anything. Among the interesting figures that showed up were witches, schoolgirls, many animals, a princes, and plenty blue-collar workers. We were also visited by Cleopatra, the pope and Nana Mouskouri herself.

The bride of the night, Malamo. auuooo! But the prize for the best dressed, had there been one, would most certainly been claimed by the bride of the night, Malamo! Pretty white dress, big boobs, hairy legs, muscular walk... wow what a woman!

The party was a definite success with plenty of good music, food and entertainment until 4:00am.

Happy Apokria to all.
