HYTTETUR
4. - 6. AUGUST 2000

Back to main page

You are cordially invited to attend the Scandinavian GRSP gathering the mentioned weekend. We hope that all of you, or at least many of you, will stop buy and help us recreate some of the fun we had in Georgia this past year.

Some basic info:

When: August 4.-6. I'll get down after work, probably around 16 or 17.
Where: Eirin's cabin, Skjærhallen, Hvaler, Østfold, Norway
Who: All the Scandinavian GRSP students, and if any of the others want to, they're of course more than welcome!
What to bring: Sleeping bag, warm clothes, bathing suit, towel, and anything else you might need for two days in Southern Norway.

About the place:
Our cabin is not in the wilderness, it's close to the ocean but also to a lot of other cabins. There are stores to buy food etc, and also a combined pizza place/bar where the locals go to party. (They yelled "Babe" after me and my sister last time we went by.) There are about 10 beds, but we will get more camping beds etc. so we should definitely be able to fit all of those who want to come. We have water, toilets (not out-houses) and a shower, so it's pretty comfortable.

How to get there:

Local buses from Fredrikstad to Skjærhallen:

If you are arriving in Fredrikstad with bus or train, you can take the local bus out to the cabin. Friday afternoon, the bus leaves Fredrikstad Bus Station at the following times:

14.40
15.50
17.25
(Stops also at the train station, a couple of minutes later)
20.20 (Stops at train station too)
22.50:
If you plan on arriving Saturday, the times are:
07.20
08.50
14.20
20.20

The bus takes about 40 minutes, you take it all the way to the last stop, and there someone will be waiting for you (at least if you tell me what bs you'll take!!) If you want the return times, you can go to this website:
www.bussruter-ostfold.com/nivaa2
Then you need to click "Rutetider for Østfold", then "Ruteoversikt", then "Rute 1-365  Fredrikstad - Skjærhallen", and you'll get all the departures.

Express Bus from Oslo:

Friday afternoon, from Oslo Bus Terminal:

15.30
16.30
17.30
20.15

Saturday:
11.45
16.30

This bus takes almost two hours, but it is pretty cheap: About 75 NOK for students. Remember a student ID!

Back to Oslo on Sunday:
14.00
16.00
18.00
20.00

And then there's the info I got from Reidun, regarding buses from Sweden, that hopefully all of you got by email. It included the E6 Express, SaffleBussen etc. Email me if you need that again! eirinkallestad@hotmail.com
