Pedagogical Skill and Attitude "Binder"
Introduction
In the linked pages I have compiled just a sampling of the ways I have
met or intend to meet both NCTE/IRA's Standards and Emory's Standards for
English Education. In completing this project, I found it difficult
to pick and choose representative samples of my teaching. While I
have chosen texts from a variety of genres and cultural backgrounds, I
tend to focus on writings from this century in my sophomore course.
However, I acknowledge that my choices for reading within my technical
communications classes are rather limited. I have not yet determined an
effective way of expanding their selections so I have not included it as
a future practice. In reflecting on what I teach and how I teach,
I believe that I have nearly mastered varying my approaches and catering
to students' needs. I look forward to strengthening my weak areas:
teaching vocabulary and grammar, utilizing research to inform my practice,
and undertaking action research projects myself.
I have organized my practices into past, current, and future.
Current practices encapsulate only this school year. Past practices
do include projects I have taught this year. Beneath each practice
is a listing of the NCTE/IRA Standards and Emory Standards met. On
the pages with the detailed list of NCTE/IRA Standards and Emory Standards,
beneath each standard is a listing of the practices fulfilling that requirement.
