Past, Present & Future

Long ago or so it seems,
When growing up, meant chasing dreams
Love was exciting, like a broadway show
And friends where there to help us grow

Days were long but the nights flew by
Clouds drew shapes upon the sky
Breaking up hurt to the core
Having fun left us wanting more

Summer heat brought pool-side fun
Fall meant school had begun
And with it came the Puyallup fair
A common bond we loved to share

Long months mattered less to us
For friends where there to ride the bus
To and from the world we knew
Through winter cold to skies of blue

We walked the halls with hopes to find
That special one whose love was blind
To all our faults and awkward looks
Whose name would plaster all our books

We'd talk for hours on the phone
So we'd never have to be alone
We'd party 'till the sun came up
Sharing beer from a plastic cup

Those were good times and what made it so
Where the friends who were there to help us grow
Into the people we have become today
With confidence, finally, now to say

That was then and this is now
We finally made it here, somehow
In spite of all those scary times
We are grown up and we were able to find

A reason to live, love and hope
Even through days we can barely cope
Thank God we had each other then
And can gather to say, "I remember when..."
