A Short History--Or, My Contact with Technology, Or, How This All Came About

When I was young, about 6 or so, I didn't have a single clue about technology--after all, we didn't have any of those fancy "newfangled" thing-a-ma-jigs that everyone has now. You know, VCRs, a microwave, camcorders, etc. Computers, then, were completely alien to my world.

Only 10 years later, the addiction began. It was 1994, to be exact, and I was introduced to the Games BB on Prodigy (Classic). There, I wrote stories with many about the world of my favorite writer, Ann McCaffery. It was a great place for people who love reading and writing to get together and interact, develop characters and plots, and make friends. Awww.

I've been a sometime obessive computer user ever since. Yes, I'll admit it, the bug has bit me. I even own a pager. Recently, though, I've turned from Prodigy to AOL and Netscape.

Writing

In the sixth grade, the importance of cursive writing was drilled into my little head by numerous teachers. I remember cursing them fondly in my own childish way. Over and over we had to ink out our letters, writing pages from type of the oddest sbjects imaginable--although I cannot remember any now. My handwriting, just to let you know, is still pretty illegible. So, I turned to a new medium.

Print. Hence, the computer again.

Publishing

I want to publish. What does this entail? Type it up, print it out... Some places even have the gall to demand floppies!!! More computer work.

In the Workplace

I work in a bagel shop. We punch our keys in the register, keep grack of out sales in the back. What do I use> Sure, a pen, but only to write on a sheet I mean to fax. What else?? A computer!!
