A Short Self-Written Biography

Me

Hi. I'm D'Arcy Dallaire (the apostrophe is silent). I'm an interesting person--and OH so humble!! Anyone, actually, can be interesting...you just need to find the right angle (Journalism has taught me well!)

I believe in, and practice, introspection. This means that I study my thoughts, actions, and reactions, and analyze them to determine a better course of action for the future in order to improve myself. There's more to it than that, but I think you should look it up in the dictionary for a better definition. I don't know everything about myself, but I try to be aware of my faults and abilities in order to best use them in the course of my life. Life is, after all, a series of continious metamorphesis. I also practice biofeedback. I'm very in-tune with my body, and I usually know what is wrong with me before I see the doctor. I just wish they would listen to me (the doctors, that is).

I'm a painfully blunt and honest person. My parents (especially Dale) have raised me too well--if you ask me a question, I will not hesitate to give you an answer. Well, maybe...Given a blunt question, there are always three options that I can choose from. 1) Give the total answer, or 2) give a partial answer that can be misleading (i.e. "Yes, I finished my homework. . .for the night), or 3) don't answer at all and change the subject. Normally, I tell it like it is, regardless of consequences or situation. I don't mean to be harsh, but I do come off as annoyingly formal or injuriously (is that a word?) corrosive in manner. I don't mean to be.

I'm 5' tall, weigh only 120 lbs. (yes, a woman, giving her weight!), and am basically average (or proportional) in everything else. . .although I think one of my sisters once said that my eyes are set too close together. . .or were they too small? Who knows, who cares. I'm stronger than I look, though, as several people have found out.

This does not mean that I'm a bully. I'm just able to defend myself. . .or at least I hope so. The situation has never come up yet. I don't like to hurt people.

Basically, I'm a calm, compassionate, thinking creature. I'm idealistic with a dash of realism to down me; I'm creative but overanalytical of my styles and ideas; I play the Devil's Advocate with myself until I nearly drive myself crazy with thinking!

My greatest dream is to publish. I began telling stories (not to teachers, thank you!) and drawing elaborate cartoons about ants and mice in the First Grade, like any other child, because I...Well, I don't know WHY. Over-creative, I suppose. Never really getting along with the other children (I was a late-maturer), I preferred my My Little Ponies, Barbies, and Breyer Model Horses to living playmates (except for Tina, who endured my eccentrics), creating stories for them...and these got pretty elaborate. In Junior High I began to write poetry, thanks to Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Hunter, my MACAT English teachers. (Since then, I think I've written, collectively, nearly 100 pages of poetry!!!)

I began composing novels around that time, although I can't imagine which ones...I know the FIRST one had to do with Robin Hoodess, a character I "played" often in my early elementary years. That story has long since been retired, but through the help of my other friends (Carolyn, Chrissy, and Cari, included) I've developed about, ah, 20+ novels I plan on writing, although I haven't attempted to finish any of them yet. God give me the Time and Patience to complete this task!!

Now I dabble in all sorts of genres, and my poetry is getting better (or stranger) daily. Science fiction and fantasy (believe me, they're different), historical fiction, modern, essays political and academic, and a few stupid plays.

If there are any aspiring writers out there, or any agents or publishers looking for a new angle on things, please contact me!!! (I dearly hope that the address on this page works...Even though I wrote this home page, I haven't been able to get everything to work!)
