All the students in grade 7 and grade 8 participate in the Home-Ec. Program.
The Home-Ec. program is divided into two parts:
The Industrial Arts program for Junior Highs built on the theory that students should
be exposed to as many interest areas as possible in two years. The program is co - ed
in both grade seven and grade eight. The year is broken up into four equal parts. The grade
seven program consists of Woodworking,Graphic Arts, Cooking and Sewing. The grade eight area
consists of Metalworking, Electronics, Cooking and Sewing.
A large element of each of the courses is safety. It is stressed at the beginning of each unit and breaches of safety rules are dealt with very strictly. Students use most of the tools in the shop-both and power, in settings which encourage their use and increase familiarity in a safe setting. In the twenty years Mr.Eggert has been teaching here, there has never been a serious accident. A record this division should be proud of.
The McIsaac School/École McIsaac Science Fair was held March 2nd,2005.
Students set up their projects at 8:30 am. Judging took place from 9:30 until noon. The public viewed the projects between 7:00 and 8:30 pm that night. There were nearly projects entered in the Fair.

McIsaac`s Spirit Week . . . .
I Love to Read is held in February.
I love to read week
McIsaac gym teachers Mrs. Chrupalo, Mr. Bujold and Mr. Halpin.
The events were:
The sports that the grade 7/8 get to play are volleyball, basketball, and badminton. These sports were practised after school and each team went to the surrounding schools to play each week.
We also have a program called Sunrise Gym which takes place at 8:15 a.m. on different days of the week. Flin Flon Bombers/Mentors help out for the Sunrise Gym.
Special Activities:
Swim program All of our students from Grades 2-6 have been participating in the Aquaquest Program this month at the Aqua Center. In this program, students concentrate on swim skill improvement, and an emphasis is put on water safety. This is a very important life time skill.
Jump Rope For Heart Program- This program has been running during the month of May. We have had tremendous participation from the students. A special thanks to all, students, leaders and Mr. Halpin for organizing and all the staff who supervised this activity.
Badminton League The grade 7/8 badminton practice and play within the schools of Flin Flon - Thanks to our coaches.
Outdoor Education: Grade 7 students go on a Canoe Trip and Grade 8's go to Camp Whitney and the Grade 6's gi to Camp Whitney . This always proves to be a great learning experience out of the classroom.
Students from Flin Flon, Creighton, Snow Lake, Kelsey, and OCN were bussed to Cranberry Portage on the following dates:
All topics were science related. The students and staff attending have a fun filled learning experience.
McIsaac Library has over 15,000 books. It is a huge open space with a vaulted ceiling and beautiful wildlife mural surrounding 2 walls. The library has a story pit with rugged steps for students to sit on to listen to stories. There are 3 huge animal reading pillows, 30 circle and square vinal reading pillows, and 6 triangle foam chairs for the students to relax and read on.
There are magazines, videos, filmstrip kits, and many books for the staff and students to borrow. The students are lucky to have their own photocopier in the library, which was bought by the student council. The teachers have a separate area for professional books and Audio Visual Materials.
At present, the library has a millennium project for the students to participate in. The goal is to read 2,000 books before the year 2,000. For every book read, a gumball is put into an aquarium in the library.
November 2nd., 1999 the library started automated circulation and books are scanned out of the library with student bar-coded library cards and a barcode scanner. Books are catalogued on the Maplewood System.
There are 2 OPAC stations for students' to access the card catalogue to find books by author, subject, and title. There is one freestanding computer for OPAC and CD_ROM use. There are also 4 computers used to run the Columbia System.
The Library is connected to the Computer Lab and many classes use the Computer Lab and Library at the same time.
Mrs. Reed is the Library Technician who runs the library with the help of some parents.
McIsaac produces a yearbook each year. It is made by staff. Ms. Lavis is in charge of making the yearbook.
The yearbook includes-
Pictures of all students and staff
