Stupid Girl

Stupid girl
you believed in a dream
don't you know
dreams never come true
you let your guard down
and now
you wonder
why you're sitting on your bed
all alone
cradling yourself
Don't you know the world isn't fair
and nothing works out
like it is in your dreams
Living in a dreamworld
is fine if you never have to leave
but a dreamworld is a bubble
smashed into little pieces
when it falls to the ground
and stupid girls
who stubbornly refuse to leave
this precious little world
are smashed right along with it

Stupid girl
Don't you know this dreamworld is a drug
bringing you to the heights of ecstasy
then plunging when you need it
the most

Stupid girl
didn't your mother warn you
that dreams never come true
didn't she warn you
that believing in dreams is a
dangerous game
So sad you had to find out the hard way
Broken promises
Broken dreams
Broken life
they all go hand in hand

Stupid girl
can't survive without your dreams
didn't your father teach you to need
no one
nothing
that is the secret of survival
Don't see anything
Don't feel anything
Don't need anything

Stupid girl
I feel sorry for you
put your faith in a bubble
doomed to splatter across the pavement
Why did you do it?
Why did you believe?
Why did you risk your life on a dream?
Why did you reach out for something more?
There is nothing more in this life
and you find your hand filled with emptiness
instead of the stars you seek

Stupid girl
Don't you know
Stars are an illusion
created by your bubble
So now you lie there
in little pieces
Still reaching out
with all your strength

Stupid girl
don't you ever learn?
