Remember Love
Remember light coming through the night
when there seemed no possibility of lumen
strong enough to dispel the darkness,
the despair and hopelessness of pain.
Remember music playing gently in the depths
Of stillness where silence long had ruled,
were quiet was not peace nor gentle joy,
but only pain beyond expressing.
Remember hope, the caressing touch so light
it almost could be missed because
the pain had built an armor so impervious,
only gentle, persistent hope could reach through.
Remember joy singing sweetly through the night
when grief and doubt held powerful sway,
nearly blocking ears which heard only cries
until the melody brought harmony once more.
Remember love, strongest power of all there is,
yet power patient, undemanding, always present,
waiting in the shadows, playing music, singing cosmic hope,
loving with compassionate heart; giving, always giving love.
