Not Always Friends Forever

Are we still friends you ask me.
I don't know what to say.
You hurt and wounded me,
But what can I say.

We're like an old man and his wife.
We're comfortable with each other,
But there's no love in our life,
And I'm too scared to find another.

When I'm with you I feel used,
Like worn out jeans,
Or old forgotten shoes,
Only looked to when there's no other means.

I can't be your friend,
Unless somebody changes,
But I still wait for you to call again,
And pray one of us changes.

This was written a couple of years ago when I just couldn't say to my friends what I was feeling. I sat down with a peice of paper at the table and this just spilled out. No mistakes, no rewritten lines, just the words that my mouth wouldn't speak. It was true poetry.
