THE BASICS: Opening A Location Box

To get to the "Open Location" box, drag down the FILE menu (shown above) and click on open location. The "Open Location" box will appear on the screen.

What Do I Type?

In this box, type in the name, or the address, of the web site you want to visit. In almost all cases that name begins with "http://", followed by "www." and ending with ".com". Let's say we wanted to visit the New York Times Online. This is what the address would look like:

"http://www.nytimes.com"

After you've typed all that in (without the colors, of course), move the mouse pointer to the "OPEN" button in the lower-right corner of the open location box. Happy surfing!
