The Hanrieder Family

My Hanrieder family, as far as I know, originates with Stefan Hanrieder of Leonhardsbuch, Bavaria, Germany. The first Hanrieder to come to Harrerhof near Kranzberg bei Freising, Oberbayern, Bayern, Deutschland (Kranzberg by Freising, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany) was Simon Hanrieder, born ca. 1682, probably at Leonhardsbuch. Harrerhof was in the possession of the Hanrieder family until 1907, when it was sold and divided into 3 smaller farms. Simon's wife was Gertraud WENDL, born in 1685. Gertraud was previously married to Philip Fendt of Harrerhof. The Hanrieders were farmers.

Family names include: Hanrieder, Buchner, Brandmayer, Mrkl, Ganstaller, Neumayer, Kottmller, Zeder, and Wendl.

Simon's great-great grandson was Johann Paul Hanrieder, who was born at Harrerhof 26 June 1805 and died there 5 April 1882. He and his wife, Ursula Brandmayer, had 15 children. The 3rd child, and eldest son, Johann, died due to an accident in 1907, and it was because of this unfortunate accident that the farm was sold out of the Hanrieder family in 1907 and divided into 3 smaller farms.

The 8th child, Mathias, moved to Dietersheim, Bavaria, married Magdalena Springer in May of 1875, and the couple took over her father's farm. Mathias and Magdalena had 14 children, 7 of whom died in childhood. Magdalena died 16 December 1907 and the rest of the family moved away from Dietersheim; no one knows where they went.

The 11th child, Anton, moved to Garching bei Mnchen, Oberbayern, Bayern, Deutschland (Garching by Munich, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany) about 1879, where he married Ursula Buchner 26 April 1880. The couple took over the Buchner farm, Baderanderl, and raised a family of 8 children. Anton was a shopkeeper as well as a farmer, and, at the time of his death 9 Oct 1917, was mayor of Garching.

The eldest surviving son of Anton and Ursula was Anton Hanrieder , born 9 July 1884, in Garching. Anton married Katharina Dirscherl, and the couple eventually had 6 children. Anton wanted his own farm, and looked at emigrating to Argentina. However, a friend convinced him to emigrate to Canada, and Anton came to Saskatchewan in June of 1913; Katharina and the children followed in December 1913. Anton died 27 Aug 1940 in Lampman, Saskatchewan.

Baderanderl was left to Anton Sr.'s daughter, Sophie, and her husband, Josef Popp. Some years ago the farmhouse on Baderanderl was imploded and the new and modern Hotel am Park was constructed. The proprietor for a time was Ernst Popp, Sophie's grandson.
