I am very much so into hand drumming. I guess that stems from the combination of loving both music and the SCA, and not being able to play woodwinds or strings... In all actuality, drumming can give a sense of relaxation or elation, depending on how the rythms are played. I play dumbeks, which are middle eastern or north african drums... drums shaped like an hourglass with the bottom end being narrower than the top. They can be played either under one arm (good for walking around), on a strap of some sort, or held between the knees (best for those around the campfire drum sessions). I have 2 dumbeks that I purchased, and I am in the middle of making my first dumbek... if it turns out, I will start making a djembe...
