A Great Visit to New York City in Fall 2002

I went with my roommate Susan, my aunt Pat, and my cousins Jason and Julia to see the big apple. Susan is from Oklahoma and had never been to NYC before, so we saw EVERYTHING!! A wonderful whirlwind tour of the place. Oh and my cousin Julia reaaaaaaally loves Harry Potter and we had the opportunity to see all the stars walk the red carpet at the opening in New York. I have never seen anything quite like that.

Julia and I at Times Square.

Radio City Music Hall. Yep, it's that self-explanatory.

Harry Potter premiere in the works. We were there several hours early. (Julia was there even earlier than us, but we were all connected by cell phones.)

More Harry Potter love.

We took the subway down to Ground Zero, where the World Trade Center used to stand. Wow. In the midst of all the destruction and rubble, this steel cross was left standing, almost triumphant, speaking pretty loudly about the only thing standing after this kind of atrocity. Now it's kind of saved forever as a monument, and was right behind the gates for all the visitors to see.

Julia makes me laugh.

People ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. This is also right by where NBC does their morning show and where people try to get on TV.

Susan and me.

Aunt Pat driving us on the New Jersey turnpike into NY. I remember talking about Teach for America a lot of the way up there - wow, that's history!

The UN building.
