In 1903 Richmond resident John Peres donated some property to the Richmond Unified School District and in 1908 Peres School was Built. It was a two-story building that was finally torn down in 1957.

Peres School is one of 39 elementary schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District. The large campus is located close to the industrial section of Richmond. The Principal, Teachers, and Support Staff are dedicated to bring a diversified and multi-cultural education to our students and parents as seen through our mission statement.
Peres Site Mission Statement
It is the mission of Peres Elementary School to provide every student with equal access to quality education. Our aim is to help students attain the academic, social, emotional, and physical skills necessary to become productive citizens in society. It is recognized that parent involvement is a key element in attaining that goal.

The dedicated staff makes a concerted effort to teach the whole child, build self-esteem and address the needs of the diverse at-risk student population.  Effective teaching strategies, regularly monitored student progress, home-school communication and educational growth and academic success.

The staff, parents, and community are committed to working together to provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for Peres students and their families. All members of our school community feel that quality educational experience can best be achieved if the school, family, and community are working together.
Peres Beautification Days
Over 100 volunteers attended to landscape the front and east side of the campus and began the Peres School Garden. Eight 24-square foot redwood planter boxes and 30-foot beds were placed to be used for teaching vegetable and flower gardening.
