Jim:

I just received the copy of your book today. We are pleased to have it for our regional history collection, especially since we have a substantial collection of materials related to the Black Hawk War. It looks like your book gets into a number of matters that have not received attention before. It is also an attractive, well-illustrated volume. I'll look forward to reading it myself --although it will be sometime in 2003 before I get to it.

I wish you the best of luck with sales and reviews. Thanks again for sending along a copy.

My regards,

Subject: Opinion on book

Jim:

Thank you so much for your book….I am very interested in Native American history and have an extensive library on the subject, but nothing on Black Hawk!

Your book seems comprehensive enough to be a doctoral dissertation, as you’ve obviously done a lot of work.  I look forward to reading it.

Thanks again!.
