The #europe gang More #europe gang

Above left, left to right: 'gaffa,' 'calispera,' and 'hazlenut' in the lobby/restaurant/bar of the Hotel IBIS in Leuven. Above right, clockwise: gaffa, calispera, rince, nacht, mags. Fortifying ourselves for a day of sightseeing and a night of carousing. Leuven is a beautiful place, the old part, and at night it is a lively place thanks to students from around the world. As we sat in an Irish pub, next to us was a table full of students from New Jersey. Small world, eh? I give Leuven 4.5 stars.

Portsmouth...

I had a great time in Portsmouth over Christmas, thanks to Pete and Mags and the fact that teenage girls there loved my American accent. We ate and drank ourselves senseless, while Mags worked like a demon to keep up. They hustled me at cards, but I won it back on Bingo night at the club. Five stars in my book.

Hazle and me, in a friendly mood, at Gaffa and Mags' club in Portsmouth. I won £10(!) At bingo! Right: Pete (gaffa) at the controls of command central.

Clockwise from left: Son Paul, his lady, father Fred, mother Phyl, gaffa, Mags, daughter Michelle. The empties on the table were just the beginning. Gin, the mother's lament or some such thing, I have to agree, whatever they say...

Me where Dickens was born Another Charles Dickens shot

Even though the weather was absolutely horrible, Pete took me downtown and found the birthplace of Charles Dickens, where I posed and dodged raindrops. No fish and chips yet, but we did stop at a proper pub along the port, had a half pint there. I want to go back! Five Stars for you Pomeys!
