This is a guideline for your riutal construction: I don't take credit for this I am only passing along information, that has worked for me.
I use these terms and others may call them some thing else. I'll describe this a little bit so that it won't be so daunting...
The purpose of your Ritual or even Spell is up to you, it can be anything, from a Sabbat, esbats, wanting to draw something to you or even ward something from you, even just to have a nice "one on one" with the God & Goddess. It really can be used for just about anything.
Everyone tells you that it is best for you to write your own rituals, I have to agree with them, but if your nervous about that then you can always use a published one and modify it...it can be quite simple, or elaborate, it's up to you. The reason behind writing your own ritual is that it makes it more personal and gets you more involved with your relationship with the Goddess.
It is important to get all your tools in one spot, because you can't get up ever 5 seconds, running in and out of your space, to get something you forgot, this is more of a practical suggestion than a requirement. You want to keep the energy up in your circle and you don't want to keep breaking the "spiritual wall" that you'll be building.
I tend to cram a few steps in this one step. Casting a circle is so very different from person to person. I can give you ways that I or others use then you have to find a way that works for you....Start visualizing an enclose your self in a safe, scared space, I call this building a "spiritual wall" I call it this because you want your spirit to come out and the Goddess to come and make it safe for you. It is rather important to do this in a safe place, at least the first few times.
I have been giving this a lot of thought lately. I haven't been good about doing my own rituals, I could blame it on all kinds of things, but the truth is I've been in the dumps, so I was thinking and came up with a ritual that sounds like it was made for a child and then I thought that's exactly what I am. I am a child of the God & Goddess, so I thought that maybe that's what I needed some time to be my childish self, not that thats a bad thing it means that I have gotten to stressed out as an adult and the Goddess is telling me to take a time out. So this week I have started to quit smoking and have decide to take a few minutes a day to do this:
This next section may sound like a repeat of the things said above, but I want to emphasize the importance of understanding what you want and the ways of allowing it to come to you. In any magick dealings you must always remember the rule of three:"That which you do will return to you Three Fold". I suggest you don't go around asking for the wrong things. I believe that with any use of common sense you will know the difference between right and wrong.
The Elements of Spell Construction
1. Clearly understand and define your magickal need. It helps to write it out on paper.
2. Gather together all the items you will need for your spell, such as candles, herbs, gemstones, athame, cup, etc. and empower these items.
3. Decide on your words of power, and create an appropriate chant if so desired. It is helpful to memorize these, so as not to interrupt the flow of energy while trying to remember what you are going to say next.
4. If you will be invoking a particular Diety, decide on who and write out and memorize any special prayers and invocations that you will use.
5. Plan how you will visualize your goal...this is very important!
6. Decide when and where you will work your spell.
7. At the appropriate time, gather what you will use and go to the place where you will perform the spell.
8. Cast your circle, or create your Sacred Space.
9. Invite whatever elementals, faeries, spirits, or Dieties you wish to have present as you work.
10. Clear your mind and begin visualizing your goal.
11. Raise energy within yourself and pour it into your magickal objects.
12. Use your words of power, light your candles, charge your stones, dance or sing. Do whatever you have decided to do to focus your attention and raise energy.
13. When you feel that you have put as much energy into your spell as you possibly can, send the energy out to do your will. Relax, throw up your arms, raise a tool, kneel, or do whatever else makes you feel the energy being sent.
14. Finish your spell with words such as "So Mote It Be". It is a statement of completion and an affirmation that you know your magick is successful.
15. When you are ready, close your circle and thank the elementals, faeries, Dieties, etc. who have been with you to help.
16. Ground your energy -- see it dissipate and return to the earth.
17. Record the ritual in your Book of Shadows.
