Kent's Poetry Page

On these pages you will find some of the poems my students have written in the past two years. I might even post some of my own. Also, I will try to get some poetry links to information about the great poets of our and past times. Love poetry!!! Hope you like what you read!!!

American Poets

T.S. Eliot is considered one of the finest poets of the 20th Century, but was he American (as a natural-born citizen) or British (as he became a British subject in the 1920's)? I'm a patriotic sort, so he stays with us Yanks!

Robert Frost is the greatest American poet who ever lived (as far as I am concerned). His lines often rhyme without seeming to, and he could make even the most mundane topics seem beautiful and worthy of poetry.

e.e. cummings cut a new path in poetry, experimenting with diction and structure in such ways as to make people really think about what they were reading.

Emily Dickinson showed what a writer could do in a very short space. One of America's best poets.

More Poems

These are simply poems I like which do not necessarily fit into any curricular work I do but have merit, nonetheless. Poems by Kipling, Blake, Housman, and others. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Click
