R.S. Thomas

Madrigal

Your love is dead, lady, your love is dead;
Dribbles no sounds
From his stopped lips, through swift underground
Spurts his wild hair.

Your love is dead, lady, your love is dead;
Faithless he lies
Deaf to your call, though shades of his eyes
Break through and stare.
