Hello, I am Martha , a licensed child care provider in Conway, South Carolina. We serve 12 children ages 1 through 12 years. I am a provider who caters to nontraditional hours; therefore, my hours are extended to accommodate my parent's schedules. I became a registered child care provider in 1992. We, my husband and I, began our business by caring for only six children. During our first year SWCC was featured in our local paper, The Sun News, in their first issue on "Parenting" . In 1994, we became a licensed Family Day Care. In 1995 were granted licenser to become a Group Day Care. My center has three staff members, Ivey ( My husband and "Cook"), Lauren ("Teacher") and my self ("Moma Deannie")! We were one of three daycare homes in the state of South Carolina to earn the Advocates for Better Child Care Child Care Credential Award. We are also members of the Early Childhood Collaborative Committee. We continue to update our skills by attending workshops and seminars. We were the first in the State of South Carolina to receive a Certificate of Accreditation for Family Child Care and as of this year still hold that title!
I have continued in the child care profession because I believe the best beginning for little ones is a safe, creative and nuturing environment. In that regard, "there is no place like home". Being able to be there for the children who have parents who work outside their homes has become personally rewarding, as well as, life long career.
