Scale Cuise
Scale Cuise with integral Coup
Perso-Mongolian. Probably originating in China.
Scales on fabric. A variant of this has the plates on the inside with the fabric showing -- with the coupe still on the outside. Many also have a maile skirt below the knee.

Photographs of armour with Cuises and Greaves.

These drawings show three popular styles of upper leg defense. More coming soon.
Cuise of Maile and Plates Cuise of Maile and Plates
Cuises of plates and maile with integral Coup
Turkish and Central Asian. Earliest use - 14th century. Of these two commonly found variations, the one consisting solely of small plates (on the viewer's left) is far more common than the one with two large central plates hinged.
