Here are some pages that I visit frequently to check up on all sorts of things...I like to have a good reference library of sites where I can find whatever I need.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do… and maybe they'll even inspire you to make your own web page, start a new project, or think a thought that you'd never thought before. If they manage do any of those things then I have done my job.

~ American Memory Archives This site is produced by the Library of Congress and is one of my newest favorites. The LOC has catalogued all sorts of fascinating things like folk music (which you can hear on Real Player or Windows Media Player) as well as photographs, pieces of art, speeches, maps, and motion pictures. I was bowled away by the sort of things they have been able to save. I have also developed a penchant for WPA posters that I may or may not be able to afford.

~ American Family Immigration History Center This is a great place to search for family members who may have come through Ellis Island. The service is free and provides a database where you can save information...thus making it just up my alley.

~The Government Printing Office Online As United States citizens we have a right to read every declassified document that the government prints...please use that right!! Through the GPO and your local library you can find out all sorts of information.

~PBS Online I could watch PBS all day and never get bored. There is always something you just hadn't any idea about. I am blessed to have WGBH 2&44 and WSBE 36 to watch whenever I can..sigh.

~Bartlett's Familiar Quotations Search for the words authors and other famous (and witty) people have said.

~Retromodern.com As a fan of modern design I find this site has all sorts fof nifty things to order, and their clearance items are generally well priced for the bargain shoppers among us.

~OOP! OOP! is a funky local store based right here in Rhode Island, but they do sell lots of fun things off of their web site. You should also try the OOPjuice(c)...the root bear is yummy and I believe it has singing nuns on the label!

~Martha Stewart Living Online Every one loves to hate Martha, but the truth is that her company produces really great ideas and projects that anyone can accomplish..and she is one of the richest women in America (so ha!)

~The Food Network Online" I have a great love of food and cooking and I know I can always go here to get the information I need...and to look at Jamie Oliver! Their ingredient substitution is also great..but mmmmmmm Jamie Oliver!

~Burma Shave slogans from the fifties Too much kitsch is a bad thing but these slogans are just enough...funny and smart.

~Half.com They always have just what I am looking for and many options as to how I can buy it (new or used.) Also, because they are supported by some smaller stores you may find books and movies that you hadn't been able to find elsewhere.

~Dread Pirate Roberts' Princess Bride Page If you love the movie "The Princess Bride" you'll love this page. It has sound clips...movie images as well as the full movie script. "Hello, My name is Inigo Montoya...you killed my father prepare to die!"

~Fridgedoor.com A great site for fridge magnets of al sorts. They also carry magnetic poetry and those dress up Venus and Davids!

"Okay...everybody out! You ain't gotta go home but you can't stay here!"
