College Preparatory School of America
Academic Excellence
Islamic Environment
Fully Recognized from Pre-KG to Grade 12 by the Illinois State Board of
Education
No greater gift can be given to a Muslim child than the gift of
an Islamic education.
The College Preparatory School of America (CPSA) provides an academically
rich experience for children from preschool through grade 12 while affirming
their Muslim identity and their pride in our Islamic heritage.
Fully recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education, CPSA is located
in Lombard, Illinois on a five-acre campus made possible by donations from
parents and others in the Muslim community. In addition to twenty classrooms,
our facilities include a library, a gymnasium and a playground.
We offer our teaching philosophy to all ages:
-
Preschool (ages 3 - 5)
-
Elementary (grades K - 5)
-
Junior High (grades 6 - 8)
-
College Preparatory (grades 9 - 12)
CPSA follows a college preparatory course of study. All students are enrolled
in Honors courses. Advanced Placement courses are offered in Biology, Calculus,
Chemistry, Economics, English, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and United
States History.
-
Our students consistently score above national and state averages on standardized
tests, and many of them score in the top 5 percent.
-
Every year, CPSA students are among the top five winners at the University
of Illinois State Science Fair.
-
In 1997, two of our students were among the finalists in the state-wide
World Youth for Science and Engineering competition organized by the University
of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
-
CPSA has also been honored with a national award from the American Mathematics
Society.
School Curriculum
Our curriculum is tailored to meet the developmental levels of the children
in each academic program. During the Preschool years, our play-to-learn
format promotes growth in social and emotional skills, physical coordination
and cognitive preparation.
The Elementary program stresses critical and abstract thinking processes
in the area of Arabic, English, Math and Social Science studies.
Biology, Chemistry and Physics are introduced into the curriculum during
the Junior High years as part of the integrated science program which includes
field research and lab classes.
The High School curriculum emphasizes analytical reading, research and
writing as well as mathematical skills and scientific understanding.
Islamic studies and physical education are provided at all levels. Our
Islamic curriculum nurtures the social, moral and ethical development of
each child through the study of Arabic and Quran.
Faculty Experience
The enthusiasm of our staff accounts for our students' high rate of success.
Most teachers are state-certified and many possess a master's or doctoral
degree in their respective academic disciplines. We also boast an exceptionally
low student to teacher ratio in our classrooms which encourages personalized
instruction.
Islamic Environment
While the academic success of our students speaks of our commitment to
excellence in education, we also incorporate Islamic values and traditions.
Arabic language and Quranic studies are an integral part of our curriculum
from Kindergarten to grade 12. Command of Arabic language enables our graduates
to better understand Quran and Hadith. CPSA provides a quality education
as well as a nurturing Islamic environment, giving our children pride in
their Muslim heritage and the skills to face life's challenges. Give the
gift of an Islamic education to your child. Call today.
