Duif's Travels
English Proverb : The heaviest bagage for a traveller is an empty purse

Before I unfold my traveler's Proposal
We like to travel and do not mind too much where...

Perhaps I can give you information on the countries I have visited before: Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Andorra, Monaco, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Greece (and several Greek islands: Crete and Rhode) Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Marocco, Switzerland, Austria, Indonesia (actually I lived there 12 years), Thailand, USA (California, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Idaho). And the summer of '98 we have been to Canada, making a trip from Toronto to Vancouver.(see my travel report)Meanwhile we have visited Ireland in '99 and in the year 2000 we have been in Mexico.

My friends Valerie and Janet had provided me with information about Canada. And guess what.... We met Valerie and Eric in the flesh! And also Eric her love, who also became an internetfriend. Thanks to internet (and Eric) I also met a long (38 years) lost German friend; we had a meeting in Mississauga.

A Traveler's Proposal

Do you recognize any of the following?

Hotels, motels, camping grounds, and other lodgings were full, noisy, dirty, and did not give what the beautiful brochures had promised?

Or, how about not knowing your way around so you ended up paying too much for food, clothes, and other things you needed?

Or, were you handicapped by being dependent on public transportation, or paying a lot to rent a car?

If you wanted to rent a bicycle, would you know where to find one, or where to go when you had it?

Have you ever had the feeling that you missed a lot because the brochures presented you with only the main events that "everybody" sees?

Have you ever had the feeling you've done something wrong because you did not know the customs of the country you visited?

Did you miss your home fitted with all modern conveniences such as TV, hi-fi installation, telephone, computer, Internet, washer/dryer, garden, refrigerator, dishwasher, good bed, comfortable furniture, etc.?

Have you missed making contact with the real locals of the country ?

Have you always had the feeling you were paying too much?

Did you get the feeling (or experience the reality) of being thrown on your own resources because you did not know the (cheap) supermarkets, shops, markets, etc.?

Did you get the feeling you did not get to know the real soul of a country, or a region of it ?

And because your time was limited, nearly all your contacts were fleeting.. since you had no opportunity to invite people you like to your "home"?

All of these difficulties can be met with the possibility of "exchange travel experiences" with others who have had these same difficulties.

IF:
You do not recognize any of these points mentioned above, please abandon this page and read no further.

HOWEVER

IF

you agree in all points, many, or some... lend me your ear and listen to me.

All this can be avoided and the solution is so simple:

SWAP HOMES !!!

Via the Internet all terms and condition can be discussed, an informal contract can be arranged, pictures exchanged, and amenities discussed.

And then if you think the exchange is equal, you can decide. In this way your vacation can be arranged and your enjoyment assured.

I think the idea I am unfolding opens new horizons.
