The Columbia Central High School Academic team recently announced its line-up for the 2000-2001 school year. The team will number sixteen and includes twelve returning players from the 1999-2000 squad.
The team will be lead by seniors Emily Senefeld and Jeremy Wear who are currently first and second respectively on the all-time career scoring list. Other seniors on the team will be third year member Jennifer Kragenbrink, second year member Sharon Thackston and newcomers Philip Beck and Adam Flowers.
The juniors will include Sam Wantland who will be looking to move into the top ten on the career scoring list early next season as well as returning members Katy Cross, Ryan Flynn, Milie Joshi and Jeff Spurlock.
The junior varsity team will be composed of five sophomores three of whom were members of the 1999-2000 jv squad, Ryan Linger, Kathleen Smith and Michael Smith. The trio will be joined by fellow sophomores Shane Allen and Luke Maddux.
Practice for the 2000-2001 campaign will begin in late August with the first competition scheduled for September 23rd at Ezell-Harding.

and Grappin selected to Hall of Fame, Wear tabbed as MVP
The CHS A-Team held its annual awards ceremony Tuesday, May 2nd and as is the custom special recognition was given to the senior members of the team which this year included David Baron, Robyn Boshers, Lindsay Crowell, Tony Grappin, Salvador Lopez, Christie Stanford and Madison Turner. Each senior received a certificate of appreciation from Coach Tracy Franklin as well as a framed 8x10 team portrait.
Those singled out for special honors included senior Lindsay Crowell who received the Team Captain Award, which is given to the senior who in the opinion of team members has demonstrated the most outstanding leadership in the previous season. In addition, Lindsay was inducted in to the team's Hall of Fame. Senior Tony Grappin was also honored with induction in to the Hall of Fame. For leading the team in scoring for the second consecutive year, junior Jeremy Wear received the team's Most Valuable Player Award while senior Salvador Lopez received the special "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go Award".

High School announced its top ten students for the 1999-2000 school year
Thursday, February 13th and the list included four current members of the
CHS Academic Team as well as two former members.
Topping the list as valedictorian is Robyn Boshers a three-year member of the A-Team followed by salutatorian Lindsay Crowell who is also a three-year member of the team as well as this year's team captain. Three-year members Salvador Lopez and Christie Stanford ranked third and fourth respectively.
Former team members Crystal Armstrong and Kristen Wayne also finished in the top ten. The CHS Academic Team congratulates its current and former members on their academic achievements.
