Rev.J.L.Byers

The Reverend J.L. Byers, author of "Broken World" was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 8, 1977. He grew up in a low income neighborhood and attended inner city schools. Violence and fear were commonplace, race struggles, societal class struggles and friends dead or disabled from gang warfare were a daily part of life. His refuge from the chaos was fantasy. Comic books, novels and television were an escape that allowed him to cope with the harsh world around him.
Graudating early from high scool at 16 years old, he moved to California and reached, like so many others, for the stars. Like so many others he held several low paying retail jobs while going to college. His education in various faiths has encompassed Judaism, Chrisitianity, Islam, Buddhism, Native Americam spirituality and several smaller followings.
All the while he never forgot where he came from and those around him, just like the people he grew up with. His compassion and concern for life was poured into his first published novel, Broken World and now with Road to Calvary. Along the way he ran a grassroots campaign for the Burbank, CA City Council. Accepting no donations, contributions or endorsements, he regretfully did not suceed in his first campaign but does not rule out further political moves in the future.
He still resides in Burbank and is at work new novels, screenplays and other works.
