Whiskey in the Jar

As I was going over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I met with Captain Farrell and his money he was countin'
I first produced me pistol and I then produced me rapier
Said "Stand and deliver, for I am a bold deceiver"
***
Well, he counted out his money and it made a pretty penny
I put it in my pocket and I took it home to Jeni
She sighed and she swore that she never would deceive me
But the devil's in the women for they never can be easy
***
I went to my chambers all for to take my slumber
I dreamt of gold and jewels, and sure it was no wonder
Jeni took my pistol and she filled them up with water
And sent for Captain Farrell to be ready for the slaughter
***
And when I awoke 'twas between six and seven
The guards were around me in numbers odd and even
I reached for my pistol for she'd stole away my rapier
But I couldn't fire the water, so a prisoner I was taken
***
If anyone can aid me it's my brother in the army
I don't know where he's stationed, be it Cork or in Killarney
Together we'll go rovin' through the mountains of Kilkenny
And I swear he'll treat me better than my darlin', sportin' Jeni
***
Some take delight in the gamblin' and the bowlin'
Some take delight in the carriages a-rollin'
I take delight in the juice of the barley
And courtin' pretty women in the morning, bright and early
***
