In Loving Memory

James A. Baird

known to his friends in Al-anon at WBS as
IamJambo

September 20, 1998

Jambo was a gifted phtographic artist, poet and writer who saw beneath the surface and found realities most people missed.
He looked at people through compassionate eyes and had the remarkable capacity to make each of his friends feel as if he had given them one hundred percent of his heart.
We will miss him.

"All loss is a doorway. All pain is an entrance. All suffering is a gate. The universe is a large enough to hold my pain and comfort me. I am small enough to be held and cherished, rocked and soothed. I am large enough to hold compassion, large enough to hold peace. I am united with all through my suffering and through my joy. I connect to my emotions and I connect to others through their emotions. I am both the mountain and the cloud. Circumstances vary, situations change, but I remain rooted in the soul of God. The universe consoles me and makes me whole." Julia Cameron

Jambo, you touched my heart with your understanding of how I felt, you were there when I was in such pain, you knew what to say to make me think. You were willing to take the time from your busy schedule to always try to reach out. You were such a special person. You detested racism and worked hard to make wrongs right. You had eyes that could reach deep into the soul of people. Your pictures talked and said so much. You knew how to capture love, sadness, dispair and joy all in your photos. You had that specialness about you that could find all of that. What a talent.
Jambo I am going to miss our conversations so much. I just always felt you were going to be there. They tell me you are in a better place, a peaceful place, that is the only thing that is going to ease the pain of your loss. I want to thank you for helping me and for "Being there" on so many occasions and thank you for helping me to focus better. Your poem was so beautiful which you wrote of yourself so I enclose it here.
Poem
No Jambo, no more worries for you my special friend.
With love from Lady (Irish)

Jambo, I respected you as a colleague in the arts and as a man who lived your convictions.
You made me feel as if you cherished my friendship as much as I cherished yours.
My world is a poorer place without you.
Rest in the Lord.
Shadow

Oh James, I didn't know you very well --- but I talked with you occasionally -- and you were always so friendly to me. I will miss your cheerful greetings and your beautiful pictures. You reached out to so many people, and you will be very sadly missed. My deepest sympathy to your relatives and friends.

James
I walked with you Side by side Equals....
Our past had no meaning
Other than to give us a reference
To relate
We shared in the present
You gave so unselfishly
Inspiration, a kind word
A hug when words
Weren't quite enough
You were the first to say
You can do it, I believe in you.
And you were the first
To see through the walls
And say what I needed to hear
Even when it wasn't
What I wanted to hear.. I will miss you my friend
We had so much yet to
Learn from each other,
Yet I can't help but feel
That your death has taught
Me the most valuable lessons of all
To love unselfishly...
Express your feelings...
Believe in yourself...
Always be honest with yourself...
Above all else
Keep walking. Me to the Light
And you now a part of the Light.
Goodbye my friend...
You are loved.

I will miss you my friend but find comfort knowing you're in our Father's arms.*H*
litilbit (The soul would have no dreams had the eyes no tears)

A friend wrote him a song, but I only have the words, not the melody.

Goodbye dear friend.
Your memory will never end.
The words that you have shared
we will hold in our souls, in our hearts.
We will always hold you close .....
(chorus).....
I am jambo.
I am jambo.
Hear the words I say.
Hear the prayers I pray.
I am jambo.
I am jambo.
See through tears I shed
as I make my way through my pain ......
Friends, I never meant to do no harm.
I gave you those words so you'd be strong.
Sometimes when in the zone,
I can follow the light back home ....
chorus .....
Brian (Chords)
