A Sermon by Reverend Hollis Ray Mathis

reetings, holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ. The sermon subject for today is:

The Breath of God

In the beginning before the sun, and the moon was formed, God the Father spoke, and he took his word, and shaped it, and formed it in such a way that the Word of God became the Son of God. Reading from the gospel according to,

Jn:1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (KJV)

Beloved of God, in the beginning God the Father spoke and he took his Word, and shaped it and formed it in such a way that the word of God became the Son of God. Jesus Christ is the only god that has ever been formed or ever shall be formed.

Is:43:10: Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no god formed, neither shall there be after me.

Is:43:11: I, even I, am The Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

Brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ, it was Jesus Christ the first born of every creature that created all things visible, or invisible. All things were made by him, and for him. To give you some idea of the power of the Lord Jesus Christ, it was he that made the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and placed them in space in one day. It was The Lord Jesus Christ that made heaven and earth, and all that is in them. All things were made by him, and for him, and all things consist because of him.

Col:1:12: Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Col:1:13: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son:

Col:1:14: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Col:1:15: Who is the image of the invisible god, the firstborn of every creature:

Col:1:16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col:1:17: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Col:1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Eph:3:9: And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:(KJV)

Saints of God come into this knowledge, by faith we believe that Jesus Christ, the Word of God, framed the worlds.

Heb:11:3: Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Children of light, when the Lord Jesus Christ created Adam, he created him to be a living soul. But, when god the father created the Lord Jesus Christ he created him in such a way that Jesus Christ is a quickening spirit. The breath of Jesus Christ brings life.

1Cor:15:45: And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Gn:2:7: And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (KJV)

Beloved of god, it is Jesus Christ that baptizes with the holy ghost. When John the Baptist was questioned about his baptism he confessed that he baptized with water, but there was one among them, Jesus Christ that baptized with the holy ghost, and fire.

Mt:3:11: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the holy ghost, and with fire:

After the life, death, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christ Jesus came to his disciples and breathed on them and said, receive ye the Holy Ghost this probably the greatest event since the creation of the world.

Jn:20:19: Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, peace be unto you.

Jn:20:20: And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

Jn:20:21: Then said Jesus to them again, peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Jn:20:22: And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, receive ye the holy ghost:

Jn:20:23: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

It was for this reason that Christ Jesus went to the cross, that we the children of God, might be reconciled unto God. When Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said, receive ye the Holy Ghost. The disciples received the born again experience, the inward man the soul came to life, and they became a new creature. Old times passed away, and all things became new. Listen carefully child of God, the most wonderful thing that will happen to you in this life is receiving the Holy Ghost.

2Cor:5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2Cor:5:18: And all things are of god, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

2Cor:5:19: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

2Cor:5:20: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Beloved of God, when Christ Jesus breathed upon his disciples, and said receive ye the Holy Ghost. When Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples and said receive ye the Holy Ghost, the Kingdom of God came. For what is the kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God is not meat, and drink, but righteousness, and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Rom:14:17: For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (KJV) Children of light, when Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said receive ye the Holy Ghost, love came; for God is love. Before a man receives the Holy Ghost, he may have an imitation love, a counterfeit love, but not until God comes to dwell within a man can he truly love, for God is love.

1Jn:4:8: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (KJV)

Brothers, and sisters in Christ, when Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said receive ye the Holy Ghost, the anointing came which teaches us, and brings us into all truth.

1Jn:2:27: But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (KJV)

Holy children of God, when a man receives the Holy Ghost, it is not necessary for him to go to some college, or university to understand the scriptures, for the greatest teacher, a teacher with infinite wisdom, knowledge, and understanding dwells within that man, and will bring him into all truth. When Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said receive ye the Holy Ghost, power came. The power to remit sin, and to retain sin, the power to live a sin free life.

And now concerning living the sin free life.

1Jn:3:1: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the Sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1Jn:3:2: Beloved, now are we the Sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1Jn:3:3: And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

1Jn:3:4: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1Jn:3:5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1Jn:3:6: Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1Jn:3:7: Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jn:3:8: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1Jn:3:9: Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jn:3:10: In this the children of god are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of god, neither he that loveth not his brother. Christian brethren, when Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said receive ye the Holy Ghost, salvation came.

Ti:3:5: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy ghost; (KJV)

Finally my brethren when Christ Jesus breathed on his disciples, and said, receive ye the Holy Ghost, the inward man the soul came to life. The outward man of flesh, and blood shall perish. It is the inward man the soul that shall live forever, for the inward man the soul is renewed ever day.

2Cor:4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. (KJV)

Saints of God, in the resurrection i believe that it is the breath of God that gives life. After the graves are open, and after the sea has given up its dead, after the ground has shaken, and the bones have come to gather, after, the flesh has come upon the bones, I believe that it is the breath of God that shall give life to the resurrected body.

Ez:37:1: The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

Ez:37:2: And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

Ez:37:3: And he said unto me, son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

Ez:37:4: Again he said unto me, prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, o ye dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord.

Ez:37:5: Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

Ez:37:6: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

Ez:37:7: So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

Ez:37:8: And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

Ez:37:9: then said he unto me, prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, thus saith the Lord God; come from the four winds, o breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

Ez:37:10: So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
