A Sermon by Reverend Hollis Ray Mathis

reetings, holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ. The sermon subject for today is:

God The Father

Consider how great God the Father is, without father, or mother, without descents, neither having beginning of days nor end of life. Jesus Christ as the Word of God has been in God the Father from everlasting. Micah:5:2But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. If a man does not believe in both God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Son, he is not a Christian at all, he is antichrist. 1John:2:22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. In the beginning of creation, God the Father spoke, John:1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. God the Father took His word, and shaped His word in such a way that the Word of God became the Son of God. Isaiah 43:10Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. When God the Father created the Lord Jesus Christ, He created Him equal to Himself. 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: "Equal" defined as identical: identical in size, quantity, value, or standard. Encarta ® World English Dictionary. Therefore was Jesus, the Son of God, created of the same substance as the Father, was He the same size, does He have the same appearance as the Father, does He have the same power, Yes, Jesus was created identical to the Father. Hebrews:1:1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:Why did God the Father create the Lord Jesus? God the Father created all things for His pleasure. Revelations 4:11Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. What God doeth is for ever nothing can be put to it, or taken from it. Ecclesiates:3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. You, child of God, have been created you shall live in eternity. This present world is a trial period to determine who will spent eternity with God. And inherit such marvelous gifts as eternal life, the immortal body, and a metropolis City New Jerusalem. A City in which there is no death, no pain, no wicked people. A City of love, joy, peace. Every word, and every deed is being recorded, and each person will have to give an account on Judgment Day. Ecclesiastes:12:13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. God the Father created all things by Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:9And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To give you some idea of the power that Jesus Christ possesses He created the Sun, and the Moon, and Stars and placed them in space in one day. Before the foundation of the world, Jesus Christ created the souls of all the elect of God, and predestinated us to be adopted into the family of God the Father. Ephesians:1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, Jesus Christ planned in love for us so that all the events of the world work together for our good. Romans:8:28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. God controls the heathen with bands and cords. Psalms 2:2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. 5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Here are some of the qualities that are unique about God the Father. No man has seen God the Father at any. John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. No man can see God the Father's face and live. Exodus 33:19And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. Notice when Elijah spoke with God the Father he wrapped his mantle around his face to keep from seeing God the Father's face. In these verses of scripture, Elijah is speaking with the word of the Lord, Jesus the Son of God. Before Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, His name was a mystery, He was known as the word of the Lord. 1Kings:19:9And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, what doest thou here, Elijah? 10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, what doest thou here, Elijah? When Moses' received the Ten Commandments it was Jesus Christ that gave the Ten Commandments to him for Moses' spoke face to face at that time with God. Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Before Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, God's children knew that God the Father had a Son but did not know His name . Proverbs :30:4Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? We are a blessed generation to know the name of the Son of God, for there is no other name given under heaven whereby we must be saved. The Apostle Peter said these words. Acts:4:12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. How are we saved by the name of Jesus? By Faith in His name. Acts:16:31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Baptized in His Name. Acts:2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. By declaring the righteous of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Why did Jesus Christ come into the world being born of the Virgin Mary? God the Father sent His Son into the world. The pain for God the Father to watch His Son Suffer, Bleed, and Die, must have been extremely terrible. John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. The pain of being crucified must have been extremely horrible for Jesus Christ, because He was crucified from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. The Godhead is a trinity in unity God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. When John the Baptist baptized the Lord Jesus all three Divine Persons of the Trinity are present. Matthew 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15And Jesus answering said unto him, suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. When God the Father said these words, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" God the Father sat His seal to the fact that Jesus, the Son of the Virgin Mary, is His Son for all times. John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Let me give you an example of a trinity in unity. When Jesus Christ created man He made him a trinity in unity body, soul, and spirit. In the trinity in unity God the Father is mentioned first. Matthew: 28:19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. At the time that Jesus gave His disciples this above mentioned commandment; this law was not in effect. Acts 2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This commandment has a promise with it, and that is if you, the elect of God, will repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ you shall receive the Holy Ghost. The receiving of the Holy Ghost is the most wonderful thing that will happen to a child of God in this world. When a person receives the Holy Ghost the work which His presence within accomplishes is, Galatians:5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. When the elect of God receive the Holy Ghost, the anointing He brings will teach us, and bring us into all truth. 1John:2:27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. When the elect of God receive the Holy Ghost, it is the earnest of our inheritance. Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Some men preach the doctrine of Free Will. There are only three things that I know of; that a man can do of his own Free Will. 1. Is give an offering to God. 2.Go up to Jerusalem 3. Commit a willful sin. Hebrew 10:26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. When you know something to be a sin avoid it as you would the plague of Aids. God bless you.
