Willowbrook
Game Eight of the 1999 season was played by most people at Willowbrook on July 31st.
Willowbrook was in remarkable condition, given the
general drought conditions this summer. The fairways were well-watered and the
greens, while not perfect, were quite adequate for the most part.
The major drawback was no fault of the course: it
was the weather. On one of the hottest days of the year, we played a round of
golf. Center Square was hot, but Willowbrook was even hotter!
Herman Ellzy’s
91 lost him 2.5 points to Doug Perks (95). Dick Blystone’s 90 took 3 from Grant
Blair (103). Roy Craig’s 109 lost 2 to Roman Hrycushko (101), Mike
Cwiertneiwicz’s 107 halved the points with Mike Brychy (115) and Bob Welc’s 89
took 2.5 from Steve Margetich (99). Ron Jones’ 94 lost 3 to Kevin Stevenson’s 102. Dan Stevens (113) and
Max McHenry (100) won by forfeits.
In the A
flight, Bob tallied 25 par/birdie points and in the B’s, Steve Margetich
managed 22.
As far as
putting went, Bob staggered off the last green with an incredible 26 for the
round, while Grant required 29.
Herman
recorded two birdies, while Roman managed 4 natural par points.
