Matt Vasgersian (Vass-GER-shin) is in his third year as a Milwaukee Brewers announcer. He is teamed up with Bill Schroeder in the press box. Matt is a 31-year old graduate of the University of Southern California (USC), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts and Sciences in 1989. Matt is currently single and lives in the Milwaukee area. Matt is very energetic and creative. Matt has the baseball knowledge of a person who has been around baseball for a hundred years.

Matt began broadcasting in 1991. He began working for the Chicago Cubs Class A club in Huntington, West Virginia. Before coming to the Brewers in 1997, Matt broadcasted minor league games for San Diego's Class A team (1992), Milwaukee's Double A team (1993-1994), Toronto's Triple A team (1995), and Houston's Triple A team (1996). He also announced the Double A and Triple A All-Star games in 1995. In addition, he broadcasted the Triple A All-Star game in 1995 on ESPN 2. Matt has also broadcasted with FOX's Steve Lyons on the Baseball Across America Tour in 1995 on ESPN 2. The Baseball Across America Tour broadcasts the minor league game of the week. Matt has broadcasted the Mexican-Texas League All-Star game in 1994 for Home Sports Entertainment.

Baseball knowledge isn't the only kind of knowledge that Matt has. He is also a big movie fan. Matt has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since he was a child. He has appeared in "The Candidate", "The Streets of San Francisco", and on "The New Dating Game". During his broadcasts, he's not afraid to shout out lines form classic movies such as "Animal House" (his favorite), "Stripes", or "CaddyShack". In the booth, no topic is safe with Matt and Bill. While in Cleveland, Bill and Matt talked about soups for 3 innings.(Matt's favorites-chowders, Bill's favorites-creams). While in Pittsburgh(July 2-4) Matt and Bill talked about cotton candy. Acording to Matt, he has never tried cotton candy, because it looks like "fiberglass", or a "large cottonball." Matt also said that he "would like to kick the guy who invented astroturf in the shins. Matt's least favorite baseball movie is "Angels in the Outfield", because the "baseball terminology is all wrong." Bill's least favorite baseball movie is "Bull Durham".

Whether it is soups or movies, Matt sure knows how to have fun while broadcasting Brewer games. While on a homestand against the Houston Astros, Matt pulled out Early the Robin, which is a beany baby that was to be given out June 12, 1999, and was flying it around over a bobbing head doll from the Colorado Rockies. While flying it over the head of the bobbing head doll, Matt was squirting mayonnaise out the back of the bird onto the head of the Rockie. Also with the same bird, this time in Cleveland, Matt was picking it up and dropping it onto the window sill of the press box (like he was trying to get it to fly). On the second try, Matt dropped it over the edge of the press box and into a little gutter a ways down.

Since Matt has started broadcasting Brewer games, the Brewers' ratings in the 25-34 age group have been up 50%, and fans--mostly girls--have been coming to the press box asking for autographs. In November 2000, Matt was hired by NBC to cover football games in its new XFL league.
