Dec. 18
Mommy took me to her work today for her Food team's gift exchange. I cried a lot and she had to take me to the women's lounge twice and feed me. After the second feeding, I was a little happier, so she pushed me around the newsroom in my stroller so I could meet everyone. I was smiling at everyone. It was Mommy's first time taking me out by herself. She had a little trouble getting my carseat in, but she finally figured it out.

Dec. 19

I had to go back to the doctor today because Mommy was worried about the crud in my eye. The doctor said I'm fine. It might just be that my nose is stuffy and is backing up into my eye. It doesn't bother me when Mommy cleans it.

Dec. 20
Mommy took me to the post office on base and grocery shopping at the commisary all by herself. She even managed to carry me in my baby seat and her big box into the post office with no help! She's really getting the hang of this.We had a scary storm come through with lots of wind, but not much rain. My dog Dodger was barking and barking and trying to get Mommy to come out into the backyard. When we went out, she couldn't figure out what was the matter with him,but he kept standing up at the fence, looking out at the golf course. Finally she saw a giant tumbleweed rolling alone the fairway that must have gone right past our house and scared Dodger. Later, he started barking again and she looked out and a plastic bag had blown into the fence and got stuck. Dodger was very afraid of it. He's funny.
Later this night, I was sitting on the couch with Mommy and Daddy, and when Mommy got right in my face and said my name, I would laugh out loud. It was fun.

Dec. 21
We stayed home all day today. We opened Christms boxes that came in the mail and Mommy put the presents under the tree. Daddy got out his Hess trucks and put them on the bookshelves. I really like looking at them. I also like just hanging out on the couch with Dad.

Dec. 22

Mommy and Daddy took me Christmas shopping at the BX today. I slept most of the time, except when Mommy pushed my cart on the tile  floor and it made too many bumps. At night, Mommy and Daddy started a new Christmas tradition with me of driving around looking at Christmas lights. They were hoping I'd fall asleep. I wouldn't go to sleep all day. I only took a couple of short naps and was pretty much awake from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. When I finally did fall asleep, I slept until 4 a.m.!

Dec. 23
Today I slept in my swing while Mommy made Cranberry Bliss Bars. Then Daddy came home and we went to Costco. We stopped at Cracker Barrel on the way home because Mommy wanted to get more presents and Daddy wanted a baked apple dumpling "to go." I started crying while we were waitng for the dumping, so Mommy took me out to the porch and rocked me in a Cracker Barrel rocker. It would have been nice except it was so cold out and I was so hungry. I got quiet, so Mommy thought I liked being rocked, but really I was up on her shoulder eating the tag on my blanket.

Dec. 24
We're going to California today! I'm so excited to meet all of Daddy's family out there, and to see Grandma Claudette & Grandpa Rick again.Mommy said there's an ocean there, but that we won't go see it this visit. She also said there's an IKEA, but we won't go there, either. I'm glad, because that sounds boring.Mommy just remembered that I haven't been to see Santa, so maybe we'll have to stop at a mall on the way. I don't think Daddy's going to like that idea very much.
Mommy gave me a bath today to get me ready to meet company. I was sort of sticky, she said.I LOVE having a bath. My favorite is when I get squirted with the sprayer. Except this time, Mommy forgot to run the warm water through it first, so I got squirted with icy-cold water on my feet.It made me cry for a few seconds, but I stopped when the water got warm again.
I'm a little shy, so Mommy censored the picture.

After my bath, we packed up and drove to Grandma and Grandpa's in Redlands, about 4 hours away. There I met my great-uncle Ross; Uncle Ricky, Aunt Liz, Uncle Jason and my 6-year-old cousin Rylie. I was exhausted, and for the first time slept FIVE hours at night. I didn't want Santa to peek in and see I wasn't sleeping!

Dec. 25
In the morning, I met Aunt Katie and Aunt Christina. I got lots of presents!

Here I am with Grandpa and Aunt Katie on Christmas morning

For Christmas dinner, we went to Daddy's Aunt Theresa and Uncle Bob's house in Santa Clarita. There I met my Great Grandma Pembleton, and lots of great-aunts and uncles and cousins. It was way too many people for me, and I got cranky. Mommy had to take me out of the room a few times. Aunt Theresa had antlers on her head that had lights and music. At first I thought they were scary, but then I studied them for a few minutes and then laughed at them.

Me and my great-Grandma, and Daddy's cousin Dawn
Me and Daddy, and cousins Tracy and Chad ,who's about a month older

After dinner at Theresa's we headed down to Encino to visit Daddy's best friend John at his parents' house, and spent the night in their guest house.
I was fussy and tired of meeting people, so Mommy had to hide in a bedroom with me. Finally, Mrs. Thompson suggested that Mommy give me pacifier. I love that lady! I was much happier once I got that! I really liked the guest house bed with the fluffy down comforter. Mommy really liked finding hot chocolate and eggs in the kitchen for a midnight snack!
Dec. 25 was the longest day of my life so far -- I'm zonked!

Dec. 26
Today we visited John and Heather at their new house then headed back toward home. We stopped at Grandma and Grandpa's again to eat before hitting the road home. I only made it about halfway home before getting hungry again. Mommy climbed in back and took out a 2-ounce formula bottle to tide me over till the next exit. I sucked it all down in about a minute and cried for more, but I made it to the next exit, where Mommy fed me in a McDonald's.

Dec. 27
Today we stayed in all day so we could recover from our trip. We're all pretty tired!

Dec. 28
We went to the BX and commissary. At home, I played with my first toy, plastic links that Santa left in my stocking.

Dec. 29
We went for a walk in the stroller. It was COLD!

Dec. 30
Mommy had her 6-week checkup today. Everything is good. Daddy put me up on a REAL examination table to change my diaper. It was fun! (My favorite game is "examination time" on our bathroom counter, when Mommy bulbs my nose and cleans my eyes and ears.) Later we went to the mall and bought a new microwave. When we were walking back to the car with me in the baby carrier (because Mommy forgot the stroller), a big bus went by and the diesel exhaust noise scared me and I screamed!

Dec. 31
We stayed home for New Year's Eve. I smiled a lot and slept in my baby seat on the dryer, my favorite place to be!

Jan. 1
We went to Cracker Barrel to celebrate the holiday. Didn't have any Hoppin' John, though. Look what Mommy did with this picture of me!

Jan. 2
Today I started batting at toys -- well, really punching the links and rattle that Mommy hung from my baby seat.

Jan. 3
Mommy made a caramel chocolate chip cheesecake for Daddy's birthday tomorrow -- yum! We went to Raul & Theresa's for Mexican dinner.

Jan. 4
Today was Daddy's birthday, so Mommy made his favorite steak dinner and they had cheesecake. I didn't get squat.. I figured out how to grab my toy rattle.

Jan. 5
Today we went to the Arrowhead Mall area. Nothing special.

Jan. 6
Mommy asked Aunt Kerry and Cousin Robby to be my godparents. They said yes. My christening will be in NJ on Jan. 19.

Jan. 7
Nothing interesting today.

Jan. 8
I went with Mommy to check out the new coffee shop in Litchfield Park. Then we went to see Daddy at work, and went to the grocery store. I was very cranky and "nursey" today.

Jan. 9
Jan. 10

Not much going on these days. I'm trying to figure out how to suck my thumb, but I keep missing.

Jan. 11
Today we went to Scottsdale mall. Mommy found a summer hat on sale for 47 cents at Baby Gap, and bought me it in four sizes. I'll be wearing this hat until I'm in kindergarten! I laughed out loud in my sleep tonight.

Jan. 12
Mommy brought me into the big bed and I slept from 7 to 10 a.m. I woke up and finally found my thumb, but then I lost it again. Mommy took me to church, and Daddy found us there after golf. I liked the Glory to God in the Highest song.

Jan. 13
Today my face figured out how to show surprise. Mommy had moved my favorite picture from the living room to the bedroom, and when I saw it there, my face lit up and I smiled. I also looked surprised at baptism class tonight when the lights went out for the video. I slept FIVE HOURS tonight! (All that surprise wore me out!) Technically, that counts as sleeping through the night, but Mommy doesn't think so.

Jan. 14
I slept more than five hours again tonight!

Jan. 15
I slept ALL NIGHT for the first time, from 10:50 p.m. to 5:45 a.m. Now Mommy's happy!

Jan. 16
I"m still sleeping well at night. Getting ready for my big trip on an airplane

Jan. 17
We're getting ready to go to NJ tomorrow! I'm excited. Mommy's nervous. I went to bed at 11 p.m. We have to leave early for an 8 a.m. flight!
