Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

... After the filmings, the band stayed in France to record Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, a double album of incomparable extension, realised simultaneously in Brazil and Europe. The disc, co-produced by Robert Smith and Dave Allen (that is with Cure since "The Lovecats"), transpires so much trust that, far away from abandoning The Cure's countless passed reputations, it hugs all the them. From dreamer and soft "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep", to torn "Hey You!", to the exhausted funk "Hot Hot Hot", to the comatose "Torture", to the malicious pop of "Catch"... They are 18 songs in the total, more than seventy minutes of recording and none of them was wasted. "Why Can't I Be You?", the first single, is another face of Cure. An hot and metallic lament accompanied of the most daring, crazy and defiant video already done. "I think, honestly, that there is not anything that Cure could not do from now on", comments Robert Smith. Believe on it!
The songs of the album, one to one:
"The Kiss" - guitar introduction, slow, involving synthesizers. The climate retakes the Faith and Pornographyperiod. "Catch" - A very light song, with a violin mixture and synthesizers playing violin, everything suggesting fragility. Played in the last two shows in São Paulo.
"Torture" - A ballad more weighed with a very creative bass line that is going being involved slowly by the sinths. Involving and hypnotic. Played in the last show of São Paulo.
"If Only Tonight We could Sleep" - it Begins with a guitar dialoguing with a zither, in a ballad tone that reminds trips. The guitar effects drop as rain, very psychedelic with effect of synthesized flute.
"Why Can't I Be You?" - The LP hit. Funk with a beat that reminds "Modern Love" (David Bowie), synthesized suits. Robert sings with a furyvoice, strange - him nape sang like this before. Presented several times during the tour.
"How Beautiful You Are" - A ballad with light guitars and a simple and creative bass line. Suddenly, enter synthesizers with accordion emblems: "Remember that day in Paris"... The voice inserts with accordion and synthesized violin.
"Snakepit" - Oriental and hypnotic beat , long introduction with guitars dialoguing in the distance, and strong and solid bass. The instruments are going involving slowly, in a climate of psychedelic trip, with indian sonorities.
"Hey You" - more classic Rock. Brilliant intervention of Porl Thompson's sax, fast rhythm.
"Just Like Heaven" - Bass, guitar and synthesizer in a ballad a little rocker, slow and cheerful.
"Hot Hot Hot" - Funk! Robert Smith barbarize with the voice: "Hey, hey, hey yes I like it". Involved by a dialogue between the synthesizer and trumpet.
"All I Want" - Rock heavier ballad, introduction with saturated guitar and bass.
"One More Time" - Slow song, synthesizers flotation, pretty melancholic sonorities in the arrangements.
"Like Cockatoos" - Traveling ballad, he sings very close to the microphone. Robert didn't get to sing that music, he only got sat down inside a darkness studio. The synthesizers remind camera music. It is the Robert Smith favorite.
"Icing Sugar" - In this song, the battery in african rhythm dominates. Introduction with sax and bass line always unexpected and creative.
"Perfect Girl" - Light and luminous ballad.
"1000 Hours" - Other slow ballad, introduction with synthesizers. A sad song that reminds New Order.
"Shiver And Shake" - Rock à la New Order, paroxístic climate.
"Fight " - Other heavy song, slow, pretty and envolving rock with revolt climate, such as a march. It is the the group favorite as a completely.
