Standing On The Beach - The Singles

"Standing on the beach with the gun in my hand..." This way the first music recorded by the English group The Cure begins. It is "Killing An Arab", the song that opens the sensational compilation that has the title of Standing On The Beach - The Singles, reliased recently in England and that PolyGram places now in the market, for the delicacy of the fans and for the ones that are searching something different. The cure for the debilitation is to hear The Cure.
Standing On The Beach - The Singles is a group carrer retrospective formed in London at the end of last decade...
Consecrated in Europe and America, where the critics chose The Top as the best work of the band, still lacked Brazil, where the fans increased day by day.
Cure became famous and appeared here for the first time with the live LP Concert. It got so much success that until were exported to Argentina in that period. That encouraged a lot PolyGram that intends, slowly, to realise the whole Cure discography in Brazil. Therefore after that compilation, The Top reliase is programmed to the end of this year. Concering The Head On The Door, the last studio album, it is not necessary to speak about. A song of the disc, "In Between Days", continues being played in the Brazilian radio stations.
The compilation Standing On The Beach is composed of thirteen songs, including classic like "Killing An Arab", "Boys Don't Cry", "Charlotte Sometimes" and a remixed version of the recent "Close To Me". But the fans will be satisfied with the cassette version that enclose the twelve B sides and will be issued here as the English original one. The reliase of this extra long cassette is an new fact in Brazil. And to complete the gift series, the brazilian edition of Standing On The Beach will have the dust jacket featuring the lyrics.
For the English official discography, this is the eighth Cure album. Third realized in Brazil, certainly will reach the largest salles, because it has everything that a fan wants and everything to conquer who doesn't still know the group. It is redundant to call Standing On The Beach - The Singles of extraordinary. It is the synthesis of eight years work of a group that never escaped from its ideals and now it expires with them.
