The Interpretive Center is on Santa Catalina Island at Avalon, only 1 mile above the city. The Center is nestled in a large canyon at an elevation of about 500 feet. A golf course is below the Interpretive Center while the Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden are above it. A campground is immediately adjacent to the Interpretive Center. The environment is natural and wild in oak woodland, chaparral, coastal sage and canyon habitats.
