Its Gone
Im sorry to say but the tranny was no good. it blew apart again. I got my money back from the tranny guy. i was feed up with it so i sold it for $400 minus the tranny, carb, intake, headers, radio, tires, and the rest of my little goodies. the guy who bought it is a friend of mine so it will be reborn again as a 4wd with a 460 and either a 4 speed or C-6. but im not sure. be fore i tell you this i still bleed ford blue and love ford trucsk, cars etc... But i bought a 4 Runner. i couldnt find a stang or another 4wd truck in my price range. Its a 1985 Toyota 4 Runner 30 X 9.50 R15 tires, 5 speed and a rice burner engine. 20-23 mpg im not complaining. if im lucky and get some real money i might swap in a Mustang 5.0 EFI engine. so i havent lost that part of me. if you want the parts, 600cfm 4bbl Holley Carb, 13" motersports air cleaner w/4 or 5" tall filter. and a rare (i havent seen or heard of one) Shelby Aluminum Intake for a 289 or 302. and a 1" air fliter spacer. im sorry to give you all the bad news but the truck going to a better place. BTW that picture on the front page was taken right before i tore out the tranny. if you look you can see our boat trailer behind it. it was a very hard shifting tranny that would almost bark the tires every time.
Its Dead
Well the tranny man told me to pull the tranny. So far i have pulled all the trannymembers crossmembers linkages & lines. I am in the process of unbolting it from the engine. this has been a very long process. the truck broke down in january and the truck is still not fixed. dont you just hate these projects? Oh while i was wasting money i bought a brand new holley 4 bbl. its a 600 cfm silver and ford kickdown. But after i installed it my exhaust changed tones. now its louder. i guess i like it but im not sure. could it have burnt a valve? oh well. i will just wait until i get the tranny back in a running correctly.

Ok i know its been a long time since i last updated my page. Well i got the intake cleaned for $25.00 + $5.00 gopher fee. I bolted the 4 barrel on. I was trying to tune it when i relized somebody cross jetted it. they put #54 & #58 jets in it. maybe they drilled it or something. but to get it back so i know what i have I first installed #60's then #65's. But since i installed the #60's it miss's and belch's black smoke every where. The idle screws do very little to adjust any thing. think its a power valve??? it has had some rather big back fires. Im gonna tear it back down tomarrow and check it. If you have any help E-mail me. BTW I got the tranny back and the 3rd gear shift valve is stuck so i have to drain the tanny and remove the valvebody and have the rebuilder clean it. I also have headers installed and am waiting for my 2 1/4" universal exhaust system. i alread have the thrush magnum glasspacks (2 1/4" 24" long). I have also cleaned up the engine bay so there are even less wires and the spark plugs arn't tangled up.
Kinda Opened Tranny
Well yesterday I Took the intermediate servo off, pan of and tail shaft off. In the pan where the magnet is was full of metal shavings looked like a doughnut. every part i took off was glittering from where metal got into them. the thing that piss's me off was that there was absolutely nothing on the filter. also when i took off the tail shaft the rear shaft was very loose so there might be a major problem. Oh for any body in or around Charlottesville Va a place called ATI (1-540-295-4117) I called them up and they told me they can hot tank & check the straightness for about $30.00. I've never had any thing machined before but for a free dirty intake i cant beat that. Oh I also have a sound bite of my truck idleing before i tore it apart. 79 302 straight pipe W/cat
