The story: I first purchased the Blazer in 91. It was bone stock with small P235 tires on it. I kept it stock until 94 where I really started to modify it. Unfortunately, I have had bad luck with engines. The stock FI 350 needed more hp so it was stroked to a 383 but I destroyed it by not welding the oil pickup tube and not having a oil pressure gauge hooked up (doohhp!). Then a used 454 was installed but 2000 miles later I lost rod bearings 7 and 8 destroying the crankshaft. I then purchased a GM crate 454 and so far, so good... The 465 tranny, 205 TC, and a full float 14 bolt I got from an 80 GMC and was rebuilt I recently acquired a Dana 60 for the front. The stock paint from 87 really stinks and started to fade and peel badly. I had Arvada Autobody do the paint. The pictures show Super Swamper Boggers but now I have Super Swamper Radials which I highly reccomend over the Boggers. The Boggers are difficult to drive on the street. The Blazer has a few show trophies and has been featured in 4 Wheel & Offroad July 98 magazine. It has been a job getting this far but it has paid off in the end. Next, I plan on installing ARB for the front, reverse shackles for the rear, and an onboard welder. It will never be complete... |
