IRC '99!!!!

Below are some pictures and thoughts of the Island Rock Crawl on Vancouver Island in Canada last month. We did not get many pics on the trails because my camera sucked, my passenger/cameraman sucked worse, and also because we are actually just a bunch of posers. ENJOY!!

Above: THE PIG PILE!! I am not sure, but I think we set a record for the most rigs in a pig pile.. I think we had 22 rigs ranging from Jeeps to Unimogs. Roger Bell and Jason Conover mangaed to get up onto Mark Blodel's rollbar. Below: Me in the mix.. I did not think that a Sammi would be able to get on my 36" tire without picking, but this guy did rather well. What is kind of scary is that I got my only damage for the weekend here.. I fell off of Jason's Bogger and tore off my flare and dented my fender.. AGAIN... I think my right fender REALLY likes Jason's truck.. It keeps hitting it.

Above: Another shot or Roger Bell's donkey parked on Mark Blodel's cage with Jody in there for a place to put tires. Below: Jason Conover... The biggest ramp bitch I know! He would have won this competition if the ramp had been taller.. He went all the way to the top and ran out of ramp. Some guy in a Sammi won.. I hope his tail was between he legs because in reality he lost.

Above: Mark Wade Going OVER the can opener. Most people go around this, which is off camber and usually you slide into the rock and rip the side of the vehicle up. Everybody in our crew went over it though. Everybody used their rocker panels on this obstacle. Unfortualey it was the only decent obstacle of the day. Below: Mark Blodel going up 35 hill with Dana Swanson thinking.. "ouch"... He grenaded his D300 Teralow here. This hill pretty much scared the crap out of me.. This picture does not justifly how steep and rocky it is. I was the only person to make this hill in one shot that day. In the company I was with, I was definitely not going to get cocky about it though :-)

Above: HEY LOOK!!! My cameraman/Passenger decided to take a picture of me! This is going over the can opener. Crappy part is that it was after I got up on it. Below, Caine laughing at Cleavage Rock. I had a blast on this obstacle.. Thenkfully I did not fall in. Jody (yes, Jody is a guy) laid his Toyota truck on it's side in the crevace and decided he was better than that and nailed the gas out of the crevace smashing the side of his newly "painted" truck. He managed to get out of the crevace with the truck still on it's side and continue for about another 30 feet with everything falling out of his truck.. He won the best rollover award for it that weekend :-)
