Editorial

The Subject:  Show quality or daily driver?

Ok, I got the idea for this editorial off an older issue of Sport Truck.  It asked whether people liked the slammed, tribal graphics, money pits or the more conservative daily drivers that are ACTUALLY driven daily.
I must admit, I am biased on this subject.  I say daily drivers are the way to go.  Building a functional and good-looking daily driver is, I think, more of a challenge.  You have to go as low and as crazy as you and still be able to take it to work everyday.  Of course, you can't lay frame (unless you have the cash for airbags) or have a perfectly sculpted body, because sooner or later some ass is going to give you a door ding, or something very uncool like that.  I thought my truck was pretty clean until I washed it...I have about a billion scratches I had never seen!
Now, those show stoppers look wonderful, that's true.  Yet, what fun is it to spend thousands of dollars on something only seen by people on a weekend at a show?  Are the trophies worth the time and effort you put into it.  You might say yes, and thats perfectly alright.  I just don't see the point of dropping a huge engine into a truck that uses it maybe twice a season.
There are hybrids.  Those sweet trucks you see on the road, AND at shows.  I admire those people the most.   The have the time to build and maintain a show quality truck and are able to get looks from other motorists.  I would like to hear what you like more.  Please send me an email and share your opinion.  All entries will be posted, if they are on-topic of course.
