Buicks my favorite car's
The Buicks I remember as a child  are as follows, most of which I have driven.
The top of the line "Rivieras". Today's Riviera is a lot different than in 1953 when big and flashy were in style. The new ones come with a Supercharged V6, in the early sixties it was called a "Fireball V6 and came with a 2 or 4 barrel carburetor. A mileage test was done from L.A. to New York , the end of the Worlds Fair, the Buicks Special with this V6 won with 25.29 miles per gallon. My dad bought a 63 special with this motor. After riding in it most people could not believe it was a 6. Every one said it had to be a V8 with all the power it had.  Late 30's to early 40's the straight eight 320 cu. in. in line 8 cylinder was very popular and fast. In the fifties the V8 appeared 322 cu. n. A very strong motor. I owned a 1963, what a fantastic ride. In 73 they were very stylish. Some of the earlier Buicks were very elegant such as the 1933. By 1939 the lines were smooth. By 1941 they were doing speeds up to 116 mph.  In 59 Buicks introduced a new 401 cu. in motor. They took this car to Daytona  and ran 10,000 miles in 5000 minutes at an average speed of 120 mph. They proved the reliability of these cars. Buicks made some real power house's  by the 60's like the Wildcat's. They came with a standard  445 Wildcat, 401 cu. in. 325 hp., up to a Super Wildcat, 425 cu. in. 360 Hp.  with 2 four barrel carburetor's. The newer ones came with a 430 cu. in. motor. My favorite Buicks was and is the Skylark's. The old ones came with the same line up of motor's in the Skylark GS model's. The newer Skylark was called "Stage 1" For the new Buicks to come, here is a look at the future:
