About Waxes

It is sometimes difficult to differentate between all of the different waxes of the market. Meguriers, Rain Dance and Turtle are three well-known brands of wax. To help you decide which wax to use, I have complied a little guide. When choosing a brand of wax, I would suggest follow this simple flow-chart.

1. What is the wax going to be used for? Meguiers and Turtle Wax Colorcoat are best for high gloss and newer vehicles. Rain Dance high viscosity and pastes are best for lower gloss finishes. They tend to last longer but arn't as durable.

2. How much are you willing to pay? Generally, Meguiers is the most expensive wax, and there are some really cheap waxes out there. You get what you pay for, but don't spend too much. I personally wouldn't spend more than five dollars per bottle of wax.

3. How often do you want to wax? Some waxes, like Rain Dance, last for a year or two, while others, like the Turtle Wax Colorcoat only last three months. The Colorcoat is far easier to put on if you don't mind during it two or three times a year.
