We are a Jeep family as well. My wife drives a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, and I have a 1985 CJ-7.  It has been great meeting a few fellow Jeep lovers on the net.

My CJ is not as "tricked out" as some I have seen, but for me and my tastes, it is PERFECT.  It has been converted to an automatic transmission, and is powered by a 400 Chevy small block, and will really scoot!!   It has B.F. Goodrich T/A 33's on Centerline wheels, and has been lifted to a height that is just perfect for me.  I don't know the exact amount of lift.  It was accomplished by mounting the springs on top of the axles, and seems to me to do just fine like that. It drives like a dream.

I think it's funny too, when you hear people say Jeeps are impractical.  I think mine is perfectly practical.  I use ALL of my space.  My family fits right in just fine, and for most of what I haul...groceries, it works just fine.  And if my son has a particularly sloppy day for a football game.....no problem, just toss your stuff on the floor, and if I need to, I'll just pop the plugs and hose it out. And no power doors or windows to break and have to get repaired....  Nothing like a Jeep.

Up-Country Suspension and Sunroof

Traded in my 95 Z28 for this great truck July 25.  Pictured here with 80 miles on it.  The next day I took it to a nearby ORV area and "broke in" the underside.  Had water to the bottom of the doors.   Dented the trans pan pretty good.  The check engine light came on but went out the next day, probably the water.  Going back across the river I got high centered (where many a larger truck soon after got stuck) and had to get pulled of a rock. Got to get some better tires... Next weekend: river rafting on the American River-Camping with the new Jeep!!!

Here are some pictures of my 1995 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with a 2" shackle lift and a 2" body lift.  The lift made room for 31x10.50 BFG mud-terrains and a fullsize spare.  Dual 3" tube bumpers reinforce my XD9000i Warn winch, while custom diamond plating on the sides protect the body.  A radio shack CB helps me keep in touch, and friends help keep me up-right.
